The Accident, The Recovery, and a Discovery

Good news

The band was on their way home from visiting Ashley. While driving Jake said "Oh CC by the way you owe me five bucks." CC sitting in the front seat asked "For what?!" Jake said "We made a deal! Ten bucks Ashley picks you and he did. But you only gave me five." CC said "You said the deal was five." Jake said "You said you only had ten so I changed it to ten but you only gave me five so you owe me five." CC said "Well I lied." Jake said "Deals a deal CC." CC snapped back "Forget it Jake! Just drive."

The next morning CC went to his appointment with the notary. While waiting at the house for him to return Jinxx said "I wonder how long it's gonna take. I know Ashley looks forward to seeing us." Jake said "It's only going on noon. It might take a while. This is important paperwork for CC to fill out." Just then they heard CC's car pull into the driveway. Andy said "Oh looks like he's home already. Wonder how it went." CC walked through the door grinning. Andy asked "So? How did it go?" CC said gleefully "Signed and stamped with approval! I am now Ashley's official temporary medical power of attorney!" They all collectively cheered. CC said "I'll drive us to the hospital today. Hurry up and get in the car before I change my mind!"

They made it to the hospital and Dr Booth just so happened to be in Ashley's room. CC said "Oh Dr Booth glad you're here! I got the paperwork notarized!" and handed it to him. Dr Booth said "Wonderful! I'll hand this to the receptionist. Oh and you came at a good time. The nurses where just about to change Ashley's, uhm, (he paused to determine how to word it without making Ashley uncomfortable) ya know..." Ashley looked at them kinda worried. He thought [Oh no! They're not gonna be in here while the nurses change me are they? Please step out of the room,please step out of the room.]

Dr Booth said "Ok these are his nurses for the day and they will show you how it's done. Any questions?" Ashley thought to himself [This can't be happening to me. Kill me. Just kill me now!] Andy asked "Is there a certain method or trick to do this? I don't want to accidentally hurt him." Ashley thought [Wow that was actually pretty genuine sounding.] The red headed nurse said "Not really, just don't fold him like a lawn chair." The blonde nurse took the blanket off Ashley and went to undo his diaper when he moved his hands over it to stop her. She said "No no no Mr Purdy. We have to show them how to be able to change you when the in-home nurses aren't there."

Ashley tried to pull his blanket over his face to hide. Unfortunately his dexterity was still too weak to grab it. He put his hand to his face and closed his eyes. Still not able to completely move his fingers he looked like he was holding invisible binoculars to his face. He didn't want to see his band mates watching him be so...exposed. He kept thinking to himself [Go to your happy place, go to your happy place.] He can hear the nurses talking "Lift him up like this. It may take two of you. Wipe down this way and we highly advise you do NOT say what you see. For his sake." Jake, Jinxx, and CC all looked over at Andy. Andy asked "What are you looking at me for?!" Nobody said anything.  Ashley wasn't paying attention. He was laying there thinking [Hey this is weird, I can't feel a thing! Maybe that's a good thing in this situation.]
