The Accident, The Recovery, and a Discovery

The Wait is Over

On the way home from that rather awkward hospital visit Andy from the back seat asked "So why did you guys all look at me when the nurse said don't say anything when changing Ashley's diaper?" Jinxx from the front seat said "Because Andy you have a big mouth and would be the FIRST to make a comment if Ashley pooped in his diaper." Jake added "Andy PLEASE remember do not say anything! Doesn't matter how gross it looks or how bad it smells. Do not say AN-NY-THING! We have to make sure Ashley can trust us so we can take care of him." CC said "Ashley is clearly already uncomfortable about this situation. His pride and stubbornness is gonna make it hard enough for him to get comfortable with us caring for him."

The next day the band went back to the hospital for their daily visit. When they walked into the room Ashley smiled and said "ha gah! (hi guys!)." Jake said "How you doin' today buddy?" Ashley said "Good." Jinxx said "Hey you said that pretty clearly! Way to go Ash!" Ashley smiled a slightly less weak smile than usual. Oddly proud of himself after hearing that despite being such a small success. Dr Booth walked in smiling. He said "Ah gentleman good news the paperwork has been filed and we can deliver the smaller medical equipment Ashley needs tonight." They were surprised. Andy asked "Wow that's great but why so quick? Not that it's a bad thing" Dr Booth said. "That brings me to my even better news. Congratulations Mr Purdy. You've recovered well enough to go home tomorrow afternoon."

They all cheered "YES!!!!" Dr Booth said "Mr Mora as power of attorney I'm gonna need you to sign his release forms." CC smiled saying "Yes! Now to put my new title to use!" Dr Booth said "I'll schedule his walker,shower chair, and a pack of adult diapers to be delivered tonight. I'll also write a subscription for his pain killers and antibiotics that the in home nurses will bring with them along with his hospital bed. He will be coming home in a medical transport van. I know you said you live in a two story house. I'm assuming his bedroom is upstairs?" Jinxx answered "Yes." Dr Booth said. "Unfortunately since his bedroom is upstairs we're gonna have to put his hospital bed downstairs. It'll be easier to set up and care for him since he'll be closer to the kitchen. I'm sure you have a downstairs bathroom yes?" Jake answered "Yes." Dr Booth said "The in home nurses will give you further instructions tomorrow. Mr Mora if you would come with me we can get these forms filled out." The wait was finally over Ashley gets to come home. Now for the hard part. The rest of the recovery process. Let the adventures begin.
