CHAPTER FOUR.

───────────────.˚₊❖

QUEEN ELAENA followed Aemond through the halls, who seemed to be too deep into his own thoughts to hear her heels clicking.

He was a fast walker, but she refused to run after him. She was still a Queen.

He reached his chambers and closed the doors ever so softly, Elaena reached them not a minute later, she looked at the Knights that stood in front of his chambers and she raised her eyebrow.

"Move." Elaena ordered, and yet they stayed still, The Queen huffed before saying, "As Queen of Elddeaalm and future Heir to the Iron Throne, I command you to nicely get out of my way."

And, they did. She shoved passed them and opened his doors before closing them. Elaena walked over to him and leaned on the chair he was sitting in.

"Did you mean what you said?" The Queen asked, watching as the Prince cleaned his sword from his brother's blood.

"Mean what?" Aemond questioned her, standing up and placing his sword against the wall as Elaena took his previous seat.

He sent her a disapproving gaze and Elaena laughed before sobering up, "Would you stand with my family? With me? Against yours if it ever came to it."

"I would." Aemond answered without a second thought, and Elaena stood up from his chair.

The Queen looked up at him with a certain daze in her eyes that drove him mad. They were only inches apart now, and he watched as her chest rose and went down at a fast pace as his heart began to beat faster, his fingers twitching.

"Why?" She questioned him, her hands traveling up to his chest, he licked his lips before answering, "All I need is you, El. All I've ever needed is you. Those years without you were torture. I couldn't bear to hear your name in this castle yet I hoped someone would utter it. Besides, your family has treated me with nothing but care and respect ever since the accident, and I fear I cannot say the same for mine."
