Their date went really well and they both found themselves laughing the entire time they were together and now as their date was finishing they both wanted more time together. After they left the cafe, they went on a walk through the park and now they were heading to get some ice cream as the sun was shining right above them.

"What flavour do you get?" Derek asked.

"Strawberry! It's the best flavour." Meredith said.

"Ahh. Boringggg." Derek playfully yawned and tapped his mouth.

"You're boring!" She nudged his arm.

"Coffee is the best flavour." He nodded with a tight pout.

"Eww, coffee flavour. How old are you again?" She joked.

"Don't knock it till you try it." He smiled.

"Who said I'm trying it." Meredith replied with a disgusted face.

"Me." He smirked at her as he stepped forward to give their orders to the man at the counter.

"Do you want one scoop or two?" The man asked them.

"One for me please." Meredith replied politely.

"Me too, just one." Derek also said.

"Do you want them in a pot or a cone?" He asked again.

"A cone please." Meredith smiled.

"I'll have mine in a pot please." Derek said.

They quickly got their ice creams and started walking through the park.

"You're so weird." Meredith shook her head giggling.

"Why?" He smiled. He loved the sound of her giggle and he found her smile to be infectious.

"Coffee ice cream in a pot." She nodded towards it.

"Hey it's clever, look at all your ice cream dripping down the cone." He smirked at her problem knowing that he outsmarted her.

"There's no point in having an ice cream without the cone. That's like having cereal without milk." She raised her brow playfully.

"I have cereal without milk... sometimes." He replied.

"Me too." She laughed.

"You just failed at your own point."

"Shut up." She knocked into him, their hips connecting.

Derek's phone chimed as he got a message through, taking it out of his pocket he sighed reading whatever it was that had just came through. She had a feeling that this date was about to end and she was right.

"I'm really sorry. My friend Mark is having some trouble at at home, I'm gonna have to go." He apologised.

"Don't worry. My apartment it just at the other end of the park." She smiled.

"I'll walk you home." He said popping his empty ice cream pot into the bin.

She felt his hand on her back as they walked, looking at him she smiled and he smiled back. It was a short 5 minute walk to her apartment and they got there soon enough.

"I had a good time today." She blushed.

"Me too. We should do this again, maybe dinner?" His head tilted to his side and he gave her a dreamy smile.

"I'd like that." She agreed fixing her bangs that had fell before her face.

"Great. I'll text you and we can arrange something."

She nodded and smiled, nervously picking and her nails wondering what was going to happen next. He smiled back at her as they stood by her apartment door.

"I have to go. I'll call you later." He told her, placing a kiss on her cheek.

"Okay, goodbye Derek."

"Goodbye, Mer." She felt the butterflies rush through her at him shortening her name.

Watching him turn around and leave her block, she turned to her door and entered her apartment. She noticed that Cristina was out and the apartment was quiet, she was grateful she could have some quiet time to relax so she ran a bath and afterwards she read her book for an hour or two. Afterwards she decided to watch a movie and make some popcorn, in her kitchen cupboards they only had sweet popcorn in, salty was her favourite but it would do. She grabbed a bowl and once the microwave popcorn was made she mixed in some pretzels and m&m's making a little pick and mix bowl, she grabbed a strawberry milkshake from the fridge and went to her room.

A while into the movie she heard her phone beep, she reached over to see a text message from Derek.

'What you up to?'

'I'm just watching a movie.'

'Which one?'

'Love actually.'

'Hmm. Sorry for cutting our date short today, mg friend Mark all but flooded our bathroom.' She giggled reading his text.

'How lol?'

'I have no idea..'

'My friend is out, I have no idea where she is.'

'Want so company?' Her bottom lip caught in her teeth.

'Sure.' She typed back, her heart beat picking up at the thought of Derek being with her.

'If that's okay with you, of course?'

'I'd like that. :)' Meredith replied.

Derek responded saying that he'd be over in half an hour or so, in that time she paused her movie and quickly tidied around the apartment, washing the few dishes that her slob of a friend Cristina had left and emptying the laundry basket in the bathroom into the washing machine. She prayed some air freshener all around the apartment and fixed her makeup, just wiping the mascara residue that had moved to under her eyes and putting on some lip balm. Just as she was finished she heard the door bell ring.

"Nice pj's." Derek smirked as she opened the door.

Meredith blushed slightly embarrassed as she looked down and her pink and white dinosaur pyjamas that were too big.

"Thanks." She giggled and opened the door wider for him to come inside.

"I'm joking. You look cute. Anyway, I brought snacks." Derek held up a bag.

"Ooo! What did you bring?" She grabbed the bag quickly off him, placing it on the counter as she hopped up and sat on it too, opening up the bag.

"See for yourself." He laughed.

"Mm I love these!!" She gasped as she pulled out blue raspberry airheads. She continued pulling the snacks out the bag until she got to a bag of Reece's cups. "Eesh, I can't have these." She said handing them to Derek.

"Why not?" He asked taking the packet.

"Allergic to nuts." She rolled her eyes.

"Unlucky. You're missing out." He teased her.

She shoved him as she jumped from the counter and they went to her bedroom to watch the movie.

"You wanna watch something else? I'm halfway through this already." She handed him the remote as she dived into a bag of cheetos.

"How about a horror movie?"

"Umm.." she hesitated.

"I'll keep you safe don't worry." He joked elbowing her arm laughing softly at her hesitation and fear.

"Okay." She nodded.

Derek picked the scariest movie he could find and Meredith was terrified, she found herself curled into his chest and his arm wrapped around her pulling her close. Derek soon heard soft snores coming from her making him laugh at the noises that could come from such a petite girl. He thought to himself he could get used to it.
