Chapter 3 : The Siege of The North (part 1)

"We are to stay here until Iroh comes, got it?" Zuko commands whispering into my ear.

We boarded general Zhao's ship to hide as his guards for a few days till we got back to the northern water tribe. I didn't expect to be going back there so soon. Zhao thought we were dead but Iroh had been on his walk and was "serving" the general.

We were both in the halls walking together waiting for Iroh to come and we could speak of our plan that we had made. It was weird to work with him especially since he had acted so we nodded as we split apart.

Zuko didn't look at me while we were walking and I guess it was part of the act but I felt a little down because of it. I wish the two of us could be friends but we weren't there yet we still just worked together.

"If i get kidnapped and back into that 'prison' it's your fault" i whispered into his ear

"You won't" he looked angry at the idea "as long as you do what i say" we went through the normal guard way before we made it down to the small boat. At the back of the boat.

We started tying it and working to make it good for travels before iroh came. He looked at Zuko with worried and concerned eyes.

"You're fishing for an octopus, my nephew, '' he said. "You need a tightly woven net or he will squeeze through the tiniest hole and escape. '' I didn't really know what he meant by that but apparently Zuko did.

"I don't need your wisdom right not Uncle" Zuko sternly muttered

"Im sorry" Iroh walked closer to Zuko ''i just bagged you because.. Well, ever since i lost my son-"

"Uncle" Zuko interrupted "you don't have to say it"

"I think of you as my own" he looked away from zuko and back to the door. I suddenly didn't feel right being here and Zuko looked sadly at General Iroh.

"I know uncle" Zuko bowed which was surprising to me. "We'll meet again" Iroh suddenly grabbed the boy in a sharp and tight hug. "After i have the avatar" Zuko got in the boat motioning for me to as well

"Remember your breath of fire it could save your life out there" Iroh tried as zuko lowered us down to the water below.

"I will"

"And put your hood up to keep your ears warm" he called down to us trying to give Zuko some advice. I wish the two would just say 'i love you' to each other it would make this scene that unfolded in front of me a bit less awkward

"I'll be fine Uncle"

I used my waterbending to get us to our destination quicker.

"You heard uncle" I heard Zuko behind me say "put your hood up" . I looked back to see how he was covering up his face with the hood. I grabbed my hood and scarf to warm my face.

"Thanks but i think i'll be fine i've loved her most of my life remember" i smirked continuing to water bend the boat close to the ice. I saw seals as they looked at us and dived through a hole.

"Where are they going?" Zuko said ignoring my comment

"They are breathing through the seal holes" I answered "we might be able to make it the same way" I shrugged and got out of the boat onto the ice.

"Yeah" we both took a deep breath and then dived into the water. I used my water bending to quicken the pace so the two of us were sure to be able to have enough air to get through.

When we finally made it through a seal hole I saw Zuko make breaths of fire through his mouth like Iroh told him to, it was warm enough to warm us both up a bit. The seals around us were squawking at our sudden entry. I turned around to pull the water from my clothes and hair.

"Be quiet," Zuko commanded the seals , much to my surprise.

We did our best to work through the water to find we would be trapped by an ice block from air. I waterbended it out of the way and pulled myself up pulling him up as well. We exited into the city where me and him stopped to breathe.

I guided him to the spiritual place where, like I said we would, found the avatar. Two girls were watching over him.

"Should we get some help?" I heard from the princess of our tribe who had white hair and a long beautiful robe.

"No he's my friend, im perfectly able to protect him" the brunette girl with a single braid going down her back she had an interesting hair style

"Well aren't you a big girl now? '' I heard Zuko go out into the light to greet them. He looked stronger now that I had healed his wounds from a few days ago when we were both in the explosion but was he able to face this new girl alone because I really did not want the princess to see me.

"No"

"Yes'' Zuko smirked with a slight grin " now hand him over and you won't get hurt" before i knew it the two were fighting she was definitely a water bender and Zuko got beaten up several times she enclosed him in an ice ball and i thought it was to be over so i jumped out from the corner and attacked her. She stumbled back not expecting me. I threw ice at her and hit her multiple times with water. I was not the best waterbender.

"Who are you?" Katara said with fear in her eyes.

"I am Rain!" I smirked looking at him. The princess had run off somewhere so I wasn't to be seen by her. I saw Zuko get out of his ball of ice and start attacking her. He must have heated it up as we both took large hits at her. She finally grabbed Zuko and enclosed him in ice again. I saw him collapse there doing nothing before she did the same thing to me.

Suddenly out of nowhere Zuko hit Katara with a fire blast and she hit the tree knocking her somewhat unconscious.

I melted the ice and ran over to Zuko who had the avatar over his shoulders now.

"Let's get out of here quickly" he commanded me to run off as fast as he could and I ran after him. I heard fighting from my people as we exited into the vast cold dessert. The avatar had glowing eyes and we ran off.

(A/n i had to add were Iroh is being the dad Zuko never had and since Im watching the show while writing this i had to add a few other details to this as well, any suggestions?)
