Chapter 7: Traveling

I throw icicles to pin Zuko to the ground. He looks at me with a grunt and easily warms the ice as he simply throws punches and fire in my direction as I quickly dodge them and block them with water. Iroh was watching every move we made giving advice to either of us.

"Keep your stance Rain" he ordered and i pulled up an ice shield to block the fire blast. He kicked at my feet suddenly and tripped me up. I fell to the ground and the air suddenly left me.

"Ow" I complained looking at him as he had his hand towards me to take it. There was nothing like a simple spar to get our energy out before we fell asleep.

"Two times in a row" he smirked as i took his hand and he pulled me up from the ground. "Are you okay though?" He looked me over to make sure I wasn't too injured.

"No you broke my pride" I joked looking at him and he rolled his eyes at the corny joke ruffling my hair.

"Whatever" he said with a small smile on his face. Iroh smiled at the light heartedness.

"You need to work on your waterbending form a bit more" he noted coming over to me. "Like this' ' he went into a very beautiful waterbending form. I know that he knew many moves from the different nations and so he was teaching me some ways to help even though he's a firebender.

"I'll work on it i promise" i scratched the back of my head. "Now can we get some sleep?" i groaned "im tired"

"Alright alright, training over" Iroh announced as we went off to set up our sleeping arrangements. We were to sleep in a cave for a few nights. Iroh insisted we needed to take a moment from all the change, but I could tell Zuko wanted to go out and search. I smirked at him and he looked at me curiously like he wondered what he did or something.

Once Iroh left "to go look for more firewood" Zuko stood to sit beside me from the existing fire.

"What did you want?" he asked curiously. I chuckled and looked at him.

"I was just thinking about how cute your hair is now than it was before" I shrugged and laid my head on my bag behind me.

"Oh?" he said looking at me like he wanted to say more but he definitely didn't.

"Do you not think so?" I asked , looking at him sleepily. He jumped at my sudden words and stroked his hair before saying anything.

"I guess.." he got up to go rest on some rocks. He was sweating and it was kind of... hot. I shook my head. no, I thought to myself. I got up to clear my head and went to sit beside him.

"What do you want?" he asked curiously

"You look exhausted" i teased "did you work too hard to beat me" he gave out a scoff

"It was hot outside" he protested looking at me "why arent you sweating did you not work hard enough because you lost like three time remember" he matched my mood and i snorted as he sat up and i handed him my waterbottle which he gratefully took. He eventually was chugging and i giggled

"Hold up thats my water remember" i teased looking at him.

"Well i guess we can go and refill it" he teased finishing up the water and whipping the excess from his mouth. He took my hand surprisingly and pulled me up to walk with him.

"Alright ill go only to help you because you obviously need it" i rolled my eyes obviously being a bit sarcastic and he just scoffed.

"Im just dragging you along for the ride rain" he smirked as i blushed when he added my name in.

"Right" i couldnt say much more after that and we walked in almost complete silence. He sat by the stream to refill the water bottle. I sat beside him and once it was filled he handed it to me.

"I always leave things better than when i found them" he teased getting up from the ground to start the walk back, and i followed him, flabbergasted at his choice of words. My overthinking abilities were really working hard on the few sentences, and once we got back we met Iroh who looked surprised to see us coming back together. Although like the good man he is he didnt say anything which made me more suspicious of what he might have thought happened.

I layed down on the rock just simply thinking about what my future held and again thinking about my purpose. Thats when i heard Irohs snoring which made me almost chuckle but what surprised me was Zuko getting up. I looked at him and he looked back at me surprised at me. He gently motioned for me to follow him.

I nodded and got up from the rock that i was laying on and i looked at him suspiciously we walked out of range of the caves once again and he sat down on a ledge. Fear creeped over me for some reason as i sat beside him looking to him, curiosity growing evermore inside of me at the moment.

"Everything is so confusing" he muttered in a tired voice which made me blush for some odd reason.

"Yeah" i answered as thats all i thought of but then i started thinking about his words and how similar it was to my own. We were both searching for our purpose or in his case his honor.

"I just dont understand where life is taking me anymore." i felt the crack of a rock as it hit the ground from his hand. All i could do was nod, as i looked over the ledge to the moon. "I dont even know what WE are anymore" he said almost silently as if he didnt want me to hear it but he wanted me to at the same time.

"What are we?" i asked hoping he could answer ironically enough he shook his head. "I mean were not necessarily friends.." I said turning my eyes back to the moon and he nodded.

"Not really" he said like he was thinking about something.

"Are we best friends?" some of the ways we acted did kind of sound like what bestfriend would, the teasing, but a part of my brain didnt like that thought. Do i want more?

"Do we have to label every relationship?" he said looking at me now "like books make it so simple they label EVERYTHING but what if theirs things that were not thinking of, like what if theirs something between friends and dating" he shrugged as if it wasnt a big deal that he just said he thought of us sort of dating.

"Who knows" i was flabbergasted again looking slightly at him as he had looked back to the moon this time. I shook my head.

"Maybe we just dont label this" he shrugged "maybe we just keep it not knowing is kind of.. Exciting" he smiled at me and i blushed back.

"Yeah" i agreed looking at the moon again and somehow i fell asleep their.
