I watched as Callahan disappeared into the woods that surrounded the cabin that we were staying at. I pulled the plaid blanket a little closer to my chest, allowing it to keep me warm against the cool breeze. I had grabbed it off the bed when he said he wanted to show me something. Though it was the beginning of October, it was pretty chilly up here in Northern New Hampshire. What was in these woods that Callahan Darcy had to show me? In fact, where was he? It had been several minutes since he disappeared. Before I could call out to him, to ask if he was ok. A large black wolf appeared where he had gone into the woods. I felt myself gasp in shock, it was that same black wolf. I thought for sure I was losing my mind. I had to be seeing things. Those same golden eyes stared back at me. They were so human-like. I stared at it as it walked slowly toward me. Until we were inches apart, I thought for sure it would kill me. Wolves were wild animals right? Yet this one was different, it was larger than most wolves I saw in the zoo. It was bigger than me. Its fur looked soft and was as back as night. It looked down to meet me with those golden eyes, I could have sworn I had seen those eyes before. They seemed so familiar. The wolf sat down and bowed its head, not knowing what to do. I reached out and touched its head. Running my hands through its fur. It was soft to the touch, nothing like what I thought a wolf's fur would be like. I could hear it growl low in its throat. Did it like when I touched it? I continued to pet this enormous wolf. I felt the same pull I did with Callahan. I wanted to protect and love this wolf. Why? This only made me even more confused. It continued to growl as I pet it. This wasn't a normal wolf, not at all. Which made me even more confused.

"You like that, don't you Mr. Wolf," I whispered softly. The wolf let out a small bark, raising its head just enough to meet my eyes. Then the wolf slowly stood up and backed away from me. Soon I heard loud cracking, and the wolf fell to the ground. It was shifting into something. What the hell was going on? I closed my eyes for a second, not wanting to see, the moment I opened my eyes. Where the wolf had been was...

"Callahan," I gasped. His eyes still had the golden tint to them. I had seen it once before when we had first met. The first night in his apartment. Suddenly it all clicked in my head. He was the wolf that saved me from the fire when I was 15. He was the wolf watching me the day after our date. And he was the wolf who had saved me from Tony. I watched as he rubbed his neck nervously. Not sure how I would react to this. I didn't even know how to react to this. How the hell do you react to this? Soon I felt my cheeks go red, as he was completely naked. I handed him the blanket, and he wrapped it around his waist.

"You.. You are a wolf," I whispered. Trying to process what had just happened. The man I had been dating for the past few weeks was a wolf. I thought that only happened in the movies. That werewolves were just stuff of legend, not real life.

"Um yes, I am a werewolf to be exact. I know that this is a lot to take in right now Mira," he said. I felt myself let out a small laugh. He was right. But in a way, I felt oddly satisfied knowing that he was a wolf and not some kind of serial killer... I hope. Or was he? All these thoughts were swirling around in my head.

"You're the one who saved me from my house when I was 15. You jumped through a second story window to get to me," I said. He nodded and took a step closer to me. I was frozen in place.

"Yes, I was on a run when I heard you scream. My wolf felt the need to save you, to make sure that you survived that fire. I was a little bit of a hero when I was in my teenage years. It wasn't until recently that I found out why my wolf and I saved you from that fire," he whispered. So it wasn't adrenaline or my imagination at all. An actual freaking werewolf saved me from a burning building.

"You were the one who saved me from Tony in that alleyway on Friday," I whispered. Remembering how viscous that growl was when he discovered us. How he looked completely murderous. If he was really wolf... That meant that Tony was one as well. How the hell I didn't see that coming. That would explain Tony's aggression and possessiveness toward me.
