Three days later on Sunday, Callahan and I were sitting in the living room waiting for his dad to arrive. I was fidgeting with the dress I chose to wear. This was the first time I was meeting his father, the alpha of the Plymouth pack. To say I was nervous was an understatement.

"Stop squirming Mira, you look beautiful. You really have nothing to worry about," he whispered. I looked up to kiss him. Just then the elevator dinged, signaling he was here. We both stood up and walked over to the elevator. When the doors opened alpha Darcy stepped through. He radiated authority and power. His bright hazel eyes scanned the room until they landed on us. He was wearing black slacks and a short sleeve polo shirt. His hair was streaked with gray but what slicked back with gel. He and Callahan looked almost identical. He strode over to us quickly and shook Callahan's hand. I stood up a little straighter.

"Father, I would like to introduce my mate, Mira Beckett," Callahan said. Robert Darcy just looked at me, as if I was only a pebble in his shoe. Callahan had explained that his father didn't like humans very much, and didn't agree with his son being mated to one. The way he was staring at me, I felt the need to hide away. Callahan only wrapped his arm around my waist. Holding me in place.

"Is it necessary for the human to be here? This is pack business after all," Mr. Darcy said gruffly. I really didn't like the way he spoke to Callahan. But Callahan only held his ground.

"She is my mate and the future luna of the pack. Whatever information you have to give me. You will give to both of us," he replied formally.

"Fine Callahan, I have come here because I have some information about the hunter that was with her ex boyfriend Anthony Bracco," his father replied simply. We all went into the living room and took a seat on the couches.

"What about her? We haven't been able to track her since that night. Deacon said that she was hit in the shoulder by one of the bullets. And Tony was hit in the leg. We identified both their blood types at the dock," Callahan said.

"There is a reason why we haven't been able to track Callahan. She is a hunter, she knows how to hide her scent, and hide it well. But that isn't the reason why I came," he said. I noticed he was fiddling with his watch. Whatever information he had, it wasn't good.

"I told you that your mother abandoned you on my doorstep when you were a newborn, remember," he said. I looked up at Callahan, and I saw his jaw clench.

"Yeah I do remember. What does my mother have to do with the hunter we are tracking dad," Callahan demanded. I knew the signs all too well. His father was hiding something. Something he didn't want his son to know.

"You are hiding something Mr. Darcy, what are you hiding from Cal," I said. His eyes snapped to mine, they were becoming golden.

"You do not get to speak to me like that human. Learn your place and learn it fast," he growled through his teeth. Callahan growled back at his father.

"Mira is right, you are hiding something dad. I can hear your heartbeat, and your wolf is anxious. What are you not telling me," Callahan said, I could feel him becoming angry.

"What I did, I did to protect you. And your mother made me promise that you would never know the truth," Mr. Darcy said. His shoulders sagging.

"What the hell are you talking about dad? What does my mother have to do with any of this," Callahan hissed. His voice was tight. Clearly Callahan held anger toward the woman who gave birth to him. I didn't blame him for the anger. She abandoned him at birth.

"Callahan, do you know why I am so against you being mated to a human," he asked. Callahan rolled his eyes, as if they had a conversation already.

"Yes, because you don't believe that humans are strong enough to handle our world. Or capable of leading when necessary," Callahan replied.
