Kayleen's POV

"How did you know I was going here?" I asked him.

"Well, just a hunch. I thought that maybe you'd want to go for a run." he replied.

"Yeah, yeah...so, why were you looking for me?" I asked.

"How did you know?" he asked me back using my choice of words.

"My friend kind of uh, told me..." I replied.

"Huh, thought so.

"You didn't answer my question yet." I was running out of patience.

"Just wanted to know if you were okay. After all that happened yesterday. I was uh, w-worried." he said stuttering but he covered it with a cough.

He was worried? Why would he be worried? Thoughts ran through my mind.

"You're blushing." he smirked.

"Am not!" I retorted but I'm quite sure if I was blushing, then now my face was red as a tomato from embarrassment. I turned away holding my face, a failed attempt to hide my red face.

He laughed at that. Oh geesh that laugh. They were music to my ears. That deep manly-oh no, not again.

"So, what brings you here?" he asked.

"I don't know, I just had this urge to run you know?"

"I know. It's like my tiger wants to break free to run. So, I do run." he said.

"Wait, your tiger? What does that mean?" I asked with my eyebrows knitted together.

"Yeah, it's like your inner self, but it's a tiger. You can speak with them when you want to but sometimes they get so annoying I just block him out." he explained.

"I...wow. That's a lot to take in." I said.

"Wait till I tell you more about us. It's fun to be with us. Our tiger can be so fierce and tough and all but sometimes they can be as tamed as a kitty cat." he said.

"Well, yeah because you are basically a cat. But, us? You mean, there are others like you?" I asked him.

"There are others like us-you and me both." he corrected.

"Uhuh. So, there will come a time that I will turn into a tiger?" I asked again.

"Yeah, actually we get to shift when we turn seventeen. But, you haven't shifted right?" he asked, now his turn to knitt his eyebrows together.

"Yeah, I...haven't. Maybe we got it wrong. Maybe I'm not one of you guys." I said totally confused.

"No, I can smell your scent but, there's a little tinge of something else." he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean there's a smell of...I don't know, fire??" he said.

"Okay...it's getting late. I have to go home. My mom might be home already she can get really freaked out at times." I said.

"Okay. See you tomorrow? At the bus?" he asked.

"Yeah, tomorrow." I said, nodding.

I turned around and started to jog back home, picking up the pace. Before I know it, I was already climbing up the stairs to get ready to sleep. But, I don't know if I'm gonna get any sleep tonight with all the questions swirling around my head.
