Attention(Side short)

A/N: This isn't the next chapter, this is a short story covering the timeskip between the first hug and when they went to the swordsmith village

Ayaka Hana (reader) POV:

(SPOILERS FOR A DEATH IN DEMON SLAYER ANIME)

It'd been a few months since I and tokito had... uh hugged, I can say, and we'd become closer. He'd become a bit clingy, but nevertheless, I didn't mind. We spent almost all our time together except for missions. If anyone would ask, "Where's tokito?" They'd be replied with 'he's with Ayaka."
Though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't clingy too, he had something about him. It interested me and then kept me attracted to him

Right now, I was sitting outside my estate in the backyard garden. It was around 6, and I'd been waiting in my backyard waiting for tokito, who was on a mission. He'd be back soon. I had hoped. Hopefully, it wasn't a dangerous one. He's been gone for quite some time, and since recently, Kyojuro-san had.... died I was extra worried about him, though tanjiro-kun, inosuke-kun, and zenitsu-kun had all survived thankfully and were recovering in the butterfly estate, I hadn't visited them yet due to being busy with missions and tokito, I was making cookies for them which were baking on the stove at this moment

Then, at that moment, my kasugai crow, Kai, had landed on my shoulder. Perhaps it was here for a mission, but it just stayed there peacefully, lightly pecking my hair

I sighed deeply and then said to him
"You can see my loneliness, eh Kai?"

I said to him as I scratched under its beak with my finger. It just caw-ed at me in reply. These things only speak when they have more work to do

Then I placed him in my lap and started playing with him, it was fun

3rd person POV:

Unbeknownst to Ayaka, muichiro had actually returned from his mission, and was ready to approach, but seeing her laugh and play with her crow, and not him, it made him stop in his tracks, enraged.

And so he just left, feeling confused as to why the sight made him so mad. He just didn't want that attention for anyone other than him

A while later..... the cookies were done, and Ayaka had brought them over to the butterfly estate for tanjiro and the gang, who were surprised to learn how young she was as a hashira, though zenitsu was asleep at the time

"It's very kind of you to bake these for us, Hana-San," tanjiro said as he took a bite

"Owah! It's delicious!"

"Thank you, tanjiro-kun. There is no need to mention it. As a hashira, I should take care of my juniors as well. "

"YOU! HANGER(hana, inosuke says the wrong names a lot) FIGHT ME!"
said the riled up boar headed boy

"Oi who you calling a hanger! Say my name correctly, boar pig boy!"
Said Ayaka. As she grabbed inosuke and started rubbing his head, matching his energy

"It really surprises me how you're so calm around him, Hana-San,"

As she let go of inosuke (with a noticeable bump on his head), she says
"It's really nothing, I just have experience with younger siblings of my own."

"You have younger siblings as well? How old are you, if I may ask?"

"Ah, well, I'm around 16!"

"Haa! You're my age! And a hashira! How talented!"

"Thank you for the compliments, though It did take me a long while to become a hashira."

As that conversation continued, a whole before, muichiro had decided that he was being childish to be mad at Ayaka and has visited her estate, but the kakushi had told him she was at the Butterfly Estate, and he'd gone there, and was still walking

Now let's go back to our Mc

"Oh, it seems like zenitsu is waking up,"

"I don't think I've quiet met zenitsu-kun yet, though Aoi-san was telling me that he's quite troublesome"

"Hai... he is, though I hope he's not a bother to you. "

As the boy woke up, he rubbed his eyes a bit and said, "Good morning."

"O-ohayo tanjiro, inosuke, and?"

"Good evening, zenitsu-kun! I'm Hana Ayaka! The ice Hashira"
She politely said as she extended a hand towards him

He gladly took it and shook it a bit too much

"Hana-San! And you're my age too! So beautiful!"

"Thank you, how was your sleep? Will you please let go of my hand?"

"H-hai! And I slept fine!"

That was the moment tokito had entered, again seeing Ayaka giving her attention to the three. He got mad and decided to leave until he heard those words

"Hana-San! WILL YOU MARRY ME!?"

Before Hana could even reply, he had gone in, knocked zenitsu out by punching him, and was now dragging Ayaka out the door, holding her by the wrist

"H-hey Tokito! What're you doing!?"

"Quiet."

She shook his hand off her wrist, which started to hurt by how hard he had held it. Now, they were out the door of the estate

"Whyd you do that to zenitsu-kun!? That was very rude of you! You're always careless like this! You could've just talked normally!"

Tokito just hung his head low and then, in a flash, went back to his estate

Ayaka, confused by his behaviour, decided to see if zenitsu was okay and apologised for his behaviour and then went to the Mist estate

Ayaka Hana (reader) POV:

What's up with him today!? Hitting zenitsu like that out of the blue!

I went to his estate and knocked on the door. It was another kakushi who had kindly told me that muichiro was in his backyard

And I went there. I was absolutely saddned by the sight
It was tokito, sitting with his head on his knees, curled up in a ball of his uniform, and he looked like as if he was drowning in guilt

I went over to him slowly, he just looked at me and then hid his head in his clothes
I patiently went and sat next to him, putting my hand on his back, lightly patting it back and forth

"Tokito? Are you alright?"

No reply.

I asked again

"Hey, tokito? I'm worried now, what's wrong?"

Instead of anything, he just sat a bit closer to me, leaning on me, and said
"I'm sorry."

Not in his normal cold tone, but the tone you'd hear from a child, who had said something he didn't mean out of anger

I was taken aback by it. It absolutely broke my heart even
As he leaned more on me, I could feel his tears on my uniform, I didn't want to be the cause of this, and so, in an attempt to make him feel better, I just wrapped my arms around him and pulled him in closer
Whispering
"Don't be. I just need an explanation. I'm the one who's sorry for screaming at you. You didn't deserve it."

After a while, he calmed down, and he said, still leaning on me

"I... I don't like it when you give your attention to them... or your crow even.. I don't know why, alright... so don't ask... I just got mad and then... I did what I did."

Ahh, who knew the Mist hashira was a child at heart who didn't get the love he deserved?

I just put my arms around him and whispered in an attempt to make him feel better
"It's alright. Whatever happens. Even if you do see me, give my attention to someone else. I'll never leave you, I'll be there to gladly give you the same attention, or more even, whatever you wish for tokito"

After that I just let him stay like that for a while, and lightly kissed his head, I don't know how the future will be, but I do know that he'll be apart of mine, and I wouldn't want it any other way
