Just Maybe Pt.6

Time flew so fast. Y/N was discharged from the hospital after a week. The twins then followed a few weeks later. They are back at Jungkook's apartment now. Y/N is sitting by the twins' cribs watching them sleep. She is so thankful that all of them managed to pull through. Jungkook who practically lived in the hospital when they were there is also staying in the apartment. He insisted that he needs to be near them just in case there is an emergency. She didn't refuse his brother's offer knowing how he was so worried about them. It is his apartment in the first place.

He saw Hoseok a few times at the hospital when she visisted the twins in the NICU. They didn't speak to each other that much aside occasional hi's and hellos. She doesn't know what to say to him. Jungkook told her that Hoseok barely left the hospital the entire time they were there. He was always checking the twins and even knew what time they are usually awake. He also mentioned that Hoseok would often check on her but only stayed in the hallways. She knew that they need to have that conversation. They have children together and it would be best for the twins that their parents are at least civil to each other.

It was only that she decided to talk to Hoseok when Jungkook brought it up.

''Noona, I know that it must be difficult for you but I just want to let you know that I am here for you no matter what. I am angry with Hobi hyung but he wants to at least see how you are. It is still up to you if he would allow him to visit you.''

''Thank you for telling me Jungkook. I appreciate that you always look out for me.''

Jungkook looked uneasy. She knew that he cares for both of them even though he might still be angry with Hoseok.

''He can visit me if he wants. It will be hard but we really need to talk for the sake of the twins.'' She added and smiled at the younger man who clearly looked relieved.

Not long after, Jungkook told her that he will go back to the office because there is something urgent he needs to attend to and promised to come back in the evening. She told him she will be fine and should get some rest as well.

That same afternoon, a very shy Hoseok knocked on her door. The man can barely looked her in the eyes. He looked like he lost a lot of weight and have bags under his eyes.

''Hey'', he said.

''Hey you--'' it feels so awkward that she couldn't look at him as well. She tried to find something interesting out the window.

Hoseok cleared his throat and sighed.

''I'm sorry.''

''Why?'' she looked at him and sighed.

''It's all my fault.'' he looked as if he was about to cry. He's always been cheeky with her so this is a new side of him that she is seeing. Well, aside from the distant and annoyed Hoseok later in the relationship.

''We both know it isn't.'' she said.

''It is.'' he insisted. He couldn't stop his tears.

''If only I was there for you, you wouldn't have to go through all this ---''

''There is no point dwelling in the past, both of us couldn't have known that it will happen.''

''But--''

''Stop!'' she interrupted him. She was hurt when they broke up and still is hurting but she can't blame him for what happened.

''Let's just talk about what's important, okay. The twins.''

Hoseok wiped his tears and nodded.

''I want to know if you want to be in their lives. We can co-parent if you want. If you don't, that's okay too.'' she looked at him and seemed so surprised.

''I want to be there for them. I want them to know me as their dad.'' he said.

''Okay, then is it okay if they use your last name?'' She eyed him.

''Why are you even asking me that? Of course, they are Jung's.''

''I just wanted to make sure so that we won't have a problem just in case you get married in the future. You have to think of your family in the future. What would your wife say?''

''What do you mean?'' he looked so confused right now so she felt like she had to explain.

''Jung Hoseok, you might be forgetting that you are filthy rich. Your family and your future wife might see my children as a threat. I don't want them to feel unwanted. So since you agreed to co-parent, I will only accept your help with the children's basic needs and education. They will not be getting anything from you aside from that. And I want it in writing. This is for my children and your future family.''

She thought that she will raise the twins alone and in secret. When she woke up and found out that Hoseok already knew about the twins, she had thought long and hard of the possibilities. She doesn't want her children to be like her. It is not easy to grow up without a father. Until now, she feels like there is some void within her for not knowing her father. She may not be able to give her children an ideal family. At least they know who their father is and will have an opportunity to be with him from time to time. She never wanted Hoseok for his money when they were together. If only she is financially stable, she wouldn't even dare to ask him for  a penny. Raising children is not cheap so she had to swallow her pride and at least ask for support with the basic needs and education in the future. She will try her best to raise her children so that they can follow their dreams and succeed in life.

''They are my children and nothing will change that. They are set for life.''

''No, only for the basic needs and education in the future. No more no less!'' she insisted.

''Alright, if that's what the mother wants.'' he sighed.
