Chapter Seven (Jamie)

Waking up was not fun at all.

I couldn't stay awake the entire night, and I've already mentioned before what happens when I fall asleep. That's the reason why I don't have sleepovers or go to any, I'll just feel terrible for waking everyone up with my screaming and crying. So as you can imagine, that happened.

I woke up from the most horrible dream yet. I don't remember everything, but it involved a lot of angry people and a lot of crying. I even think I saw Dark in it. I jumped up, trying to catch my breath, when I noticed Angelo was up as well and had his hand on my shoulder. When he saw I was awake, he immediately pulled me to him and hugged me.

"Are you okay?", he asked. I wanted to answer but I couldn't. He pulled away and placed his hands on my cheeks.

"It's okay, Jamie. Just breathe, you're fine", he said and breathed with me while wiping away my tears  until I calmed down. I looked into his eyes and saw how concerned he was, I felt terrible.

"Sorry", I said quietly.

"For what?", he asked.

"Scaring you"

"Did you have a nightmare?", he asked and I nodded.

"Oh babe...", he said and stroked my hair.

I looked at the time and it was 4:30 a.m., so he still had time to sleep.

"You should go back to sleep", I whispered to him.

"And leave you like this? No way", he said while holding my hands.

"You'll be tired for school", I said.

"So will you", he answered.

"No, I'm used to it"

"Do you get them that often?"

"Every night", I said and started to explain everything to him. When I finished he just stared at me, not really knowing what to say. After a moment he sighed and said: "Told you that you were unique". I laughed and he hugged me again. I don't remember the last time I got a hug like that, a hug filled with nothing but unconditional love and care for... me.

"Let's go back to sleep. Don't worry, I'll protect you", he said and he lay down on the bed. I placed my head on his chest, he made me feel so safe, so calm,...

Angelo's alarm on his phone woke us up. We looked at each other, he placed his hand in front of his mouth and said: "Good morning".

"What are you doing?", I asked smiling.

"Terrible morning breath", he said and I laughed quietly.

"So... How did you sleep?", he asked.

"I... Thank you", I said.

"For what?", he asked while getting up.

"Protecting me", I said quietly. I hate being cheesy but it was the only thing that felt right to say.

He looked at me and said: "Always".

"We are so corny", I said and got up.

"They should write a book about us: Bikers with a heart", he said and I almost couldn't control my extremely loud laugh which would have ended terribly.

We got ready for school and Angelo was about to go out through the window, but he turned around, stood right in front of me, placed his lips so close to mine that I could almost feel them and said: "I suppose this is as close I'm going to get to kissing you", with his gentle whispering voice, and snuck out the window. I then let out what I think was the heaviest sigh ever in the 17 years of my life, and went downstairs. It felt weird, sleeping and waking up without heavy breathing and crying, I don't remember the last time I slept like that. I couldn't stop thinking about whether he really could be the one I should be with. I mean, not anyone could calm me down like that, it's not every day you find your... Protector I suppose is the right word.  (I know, I am being extremely girly, but I can't help it).
