Harry walked down the stairs at Sirius's house, the photos on the shelves telling the story of Remus and Sirius's relationship. It started when they were young, a big group photo including Peter Pettigrew and his dad. It ended in a wedding photo of Sirius and Remus, obviously taken after James' death and Peter's betrayal. Harry continued wandering down the stairs, taking a trip into his godfather's past life.

At the end of the stairs was a long hallway leading to where Remus and Sirius sat, the former's arm slung over the back of his husband's chair. Harry walked towards them, taking the seat opposite Sirius. "Padfoot? Can you tell me about my parents?"
Sirius looked up, slowly nodding at Harry. "What do you want to know about Harry?"
"Anything, everything."
Remus leaned forward, "well, your parents met in
Fifth year, but were aware of each other beforehand, like most people are. The first time they met was before Christmas of our fifth year. James had just been rejected by Lily Evans again-"
"Woah how'd they meet in fifth year if she already rejected him?"
Sirius frowned at Harry, "Harry? You don't think Lily Evans was your mother?"
"That's what Dumbledore told me."
"Dumbledore? Of course he told you Evans is your mum, he knows jack shit about his pupils! "
"Remus, language!"
"Sorry darling, it just grates my bones that Harry thinks that BITCH Lily Evans is his mum!"
"So she's not my mum?" Harry queried.
"No, harry, Lily Evans is not your mum." Remus sighed, leaning back in his chair. "Your mum was one of the nicest, selfless people we knew. "
"Definitely not Evans then." Sirius quipped.
"Your dad met your mum when he stumbled into a classroom that he thought was empty. Lily had just publicly humiliated him again for the millionth time in five years."
"Yeah, she got very mean towards the end. Creative, but mean."
"James had gone to cry in one of the classrooms that was rarely used, and your mum was in there trying to find her textbook. James became so embarrassed she saw him cry that he bolted out of the room."
" Romantic right?" Sirius laughed.
Harry chuckled, still shocked at this  information.
"Anyways, your mum came over that night at dinner to ask James if he was okay, he tried to play it cool, but she hugged him and told him it was okay to be sad sometimes. Of course we laughed at the time but it was quite sweet of her."
Sirius leaned in, placing his hands folded in front of him on the table. "James was so embarrassed he tried to avoid her, but Remus decided she was a good soul and marched right over to her table to make friends with her."
"What house was she in?"
"Slytherin. We never understood why, she was so happy and helpful compared to Slytherin house, but she was sorted there."
"Sirius used to say she and him were placed in the wrong houses, the hat had made a mistake and switched them around. In my opinion, they both deserved Gryffindor."
"Since that day, your mum had engraved herself on each of our hearts, some more deeply than others; James, I'm convinced, fell in love within that first week.  I knew he loved her a month later, when she made us dance in the rain and he just stood there staring at her whilst she spun around, laughing her head off. "
Sirius nodded along wistfully, both of their eyes far away, remembering a distant time when they were happy.
"When did they get together?"
"The first day of sixth year. We were all sat on the train waiting for your mum- she was late as usual- and James was getting antsy. Sirius had told him to man up and tell her how he felt otherwise he would do it for him. Your mum came in halfway through, asking who they were talking about. Obviously we all panicked, and told her something that we really shouldn't have."
Harry, being invested now, begged to know what they said.
"We tol-"
"We? I distinctly remember it being you telling her that James wanted to ask Lily, Sirius."
"I panicked Remy, don't come at me."
Harry rolled his eyes, tutting at Sirius' idiocy. "So what happened? How did they get together?"
"Well, your mum- who I knew liked James too- just told him Lily didn't deserve him but she was happy for him and legged it out the compartment. James was stunned for a minute, before getting up and running after her. We could hear his shouting her name from down the corridor. All we know is when they came back 10 minutes after they were together and the rest was history."
"So my mum wasn't Lily Evans?"
"No, she was twice- three times the woman that Lily was. When Evans realised James had moved on, she was desperate for the attention he used to give her and tried everything she could to split up your mum and dad. It didn't work though, they loved each other too much to care about the old bitch face."
"Yeah, it was obvious from the start they were meant to be together. They were so excited when they found out they were having you. James had never been happier. Well except for their wedding day of course. He cried like a baby that day."
"Yeah he did, it was funny." Sirius chuckled.
Harry nodded, slight tears in his eyes. He never knew his mum until this morning, but he already knew she was a great mum. He was eager to know more, but decided to leave it until another day because of the time. He thanked Remus and Sirius for sharing that with him before standing and going to bed.

He was half way down the corridor before he turned back to them, seeing them wiping tears from their eyes too. "Say,what was my mum's name?"
Sirius smiled fondly before saying,

"Y/N Y/L/N. The best witch I ever knew."
