Chapter 31: Grand Finale

One huge explosion came out in Adventure Bay and launched Rover backwards, which sent him crashing through rocks behind him.

Rover groaned, then quickly got back up and launched himself at the pups again. But before he could even get closer to them, Chase and Coral arrived in front of him and threw their energy punches at him at the same time. Rover attempted blocking their attacks with his paws, but unfortunately it wasn't enough, as his body once again being propelled backwards by a huge force.

Rover steadied himself and dug his claws into the ground in order to stop himself from going back any further. But just as he stopped, he looked up and saw diamond shards, icicles and energy tools coming down at him at high speed, like a meteor shower.

Rover growled and manoeuvred around with his speed, which swiftly dodged each of those attacks. However, he wasn't fast enough, as he eventually got hit by the rest of them after.

Without his purple eye, he can only use his base strength, which greatly weakened his power and speed, resulting him in becoming vulnerable.

He tried getting up again, but only got tangled and pinned on the ground by huge vines which emerged underground. He next got smashed by Rubble's wrecking ball attack and Leo's lion punch on the face, causing him to scream in excruciating pain. Wild then took the opportunity and tackled him head on at cheetah speed, knocking him backwards once more.

Rover coughed in pain, then looked at Skye, which was standing in the distance. He grinned and decided to target on her instead. Rover launched bullet-hell energy blasts at Skye, which were seemingly impossible for anyone to dodge against that speed.

But apparently, it was a mistake, a worse choice.

Skye simply sidestepped her body aside at minimal, swift and unpredictable movements, which successfully dodged all of the bullet energy attacks. Rover greatly widened in shock by her response, as he later saw Skye blitzing in front of him with a pink flash, at a speed where his vision couldn't catch, and threw a whirlwind punch on his face. Rover was later knocked back again.

Marshall arrived beside Skye, and the two pups then launched air punches at Rover simultaneously, barraged on him and sent him crashing within hundreds of meters away.

Once they all heard the loud crash in front of them, Rocky broke the silence: "Guess it's over for him now..."

"Seriously..." Chase looked back at the crew and asked Ryder and the pups: "And how did you guys survive? We thought something happened to you all."

"I thought...you guys became dust back then." Marshall added, without looking at them. "Your pup tags, armour, everything equipped around you were laid there...while covering in dust."

"And most of all..." Skye finally spoke. "Where's Steve...? Did something happen to him?"

Ryder sighed, then started: "Well, you see..."

(Flashback)

Ryder and the crew collapsed on the ground, moaning in pain, while Steve was still standing in front of them, panting in exhaustion, as he was still confronting against Rover in front of him.

Rover smirked in joy, as he saw the team had ran out of energy to go against him. "I'm surprised by the fact you people had last this long against me, other than that mutt that had my purple eye...you earned my respect." He said. "But now..."

He crushed his energy sword on his paw, then flew upwards to the sky. He then began charging up a huge energy ball, preparing to hurl it at them. "It's time for this game to finally end!!"

Ryder and the pups looked at the energy ball around his paws, gradually become bigger and bigger. They knew, evasion is impossible for them.

Steve growled, then looked back at the crew. He felt like he didn't have any much choice, then began charging up an energy beam. Obviously he knew he still had the energy to teleport away, but he chose not to.
