The Bakusquad walked together down the sidewalk, heading toward Denki's house, which was only a few blocks away from U.A. Earlier that day, they'd all agreed—mostly thanks to Mina—that they were spending the night at his place. It was Friday, after all. No school, no training, and Denki's mom absolutely adored his friends.
Denki's house sat uncomfortably close to a forest.
Not just any forest—but that forest.
Dark, thick, and unnaturally quiet, it had a reputation that made most people cross the street just to avoid walking too close. Missing persons cases were constantly whispered about whenever it was mentioned. Denki always picked up his pace when they passed it, refusing to slow down even for a second.
His mom used to tell him stories about it—about children who wandered too far, about heroes who went in and never came back.
He hated it.
"Hey," Mina said suddenly, elbowing Denki in the side. "What's that place?"
She tilted her head, staring at the looming wall of trees. "It looks kinda eerie. Definitely the kind of place murders happen."
Denki swallowed. "The forest?" He glanced at it, then quickly looked away. "My mom says that's where missing people seem to go."
A chill ran down his spine. He visibly shivered.
Mina's eyes sparkled.
"Oh?" she said slowly, a grin spreading across her face. "What if we went in there?"
Denki froze. "...What?"
"Like," she continued excitedly, already pulling out her phone, "a total camping trip!"
"You're crazy!" Kirishima shouted, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her dramatically. "Absolutely not!"
"Oh come on!" Mina laughed, easily slipping from his grip. "It'll be fun! We all need a little thrill in our lives, right?"
"No," Sero deadpanned. "Not when that thrill can get us killed."
"Whatever!" Mina waved him off. "We're still doing it!"
She started typing furiously on her phone, and one by one, everyone's phones dinged.
They checked the group chat.
A mixture of yes and maybe responses filled the screen.
Five clear no's stood out.
Mina pouted. "Tsuyu, Todoroki, Uraraka, Iida, and Izuku won't be coming."
"They're probably studying," Bakugo scoffed, hands shoved into his pockets.
Mina squinted at her phone. "Nope. Says here they're going to be picking up..." She leaned closer to the screen. "...some little girl that their aunt takes care of. Her name's Ari."
Bakugo clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Tch. Bullshit. I know Deku ain't got no aunt. So it's gotta be one of them damn nerds aunt."
Eventually, they reached Denki's house.
Before Denki could even get his key out, the front door swung open.
"Denki!" his mom exclaimed, beaming brightly. "Oh my goodness—why are all of you here?"
She immediately pulled Denki into a tight hug, squishing his face against her shoulder.
"Mom!" Denki screeched, flailing helplessly.
"I love this," Mina snickered, watching the scene unfold.
"I know, right?" Kirishima laughed, flashing a wide grin that showed off his sharp teeth without a hint of embarrassment. His smile only grew wider as Denki struggled.
