ELINA'S POV:

Maybe, the whole world was playing a trick on the two of us all along. Fate is a written ending for souls belonging to the Earth. Perhaps, we went against that fate of ours to suffer like this, or the fate itself had foreseen about our sufferings in the end.

Why is it so cruel?

To walk on the ground, being tied by strings of your own people's wishful thinking. To be the perfect ruler they wished for. To be the ruler who asserted power over other kingdoms.

Why were we raised like that?

The scornful looks of the regents and courtiers upon knowing of our relationship. It made me suffocate as they looked down upon me. All I ever wanted was to love ; not be bound to the ground with chains.

"If only had nobles thought a little more about how much both the kingdoms would flourish if it were to come to an agreement, we wouldn't have to witness such a sight." Hayi remarked with no remorse to his tone as he looked on towards the west of the cliff, to see black smoke encasing both the nations. The skies were dark and filled with ashes from the fire spreading. Black flames encased the forests as creatures from the depths of the world began causing more havoc.

Elina only laughed out loud as she wiped off the tears from her eyes. She held her stomach closely as she laughed out like a lunatic, unable to stop. Hayi only looked at her through his half lidded eyes before he left out a sigh.

"Oh-! Oh my goodness! It's been a while since I've been given such a chance to laugh!" The woman said as she tried to maintain her composure.

She stopped laughing and gazed upon her burning kingdom. She parted her lips as she smiled.  "Isn't it a beautiful sight to see, two nations being burnt down to it's foundations as people clash their blades with one another."

"You seem to be enjoying this too much, Elina." Hayi remarked as he walked towards her and brought her closer to him as he embraced her tightly. She held him close from the back as fresh stream of warm tears hit his clothing. Elina muffled and tried her best to not cry, yet it couldn't be helped.

All those years she dedicated to ruling her kingdom, to become the perfect Queen; all to be brought down because she wasn't allowed to love.

Love was a strong emotion, she craved for it. Hayi was the knight in a shinning armor, who fulfilled her craving. Made her feel loved for who she was truly and not the facade mask she wore around as the Mother of a Nation.

"Isn't it cruel, that we must live our lives just for the sake of others?" She asked as she tried her best to stop crying. Hayi only patted the back of her head as he hummed in approval.

"Don't worry about them, Elina." he responded back in an attempt to calm the situation down. Even he was mentally drained from whatever has been happening. Not only did his court turn their backs on him, so did Elina's.

He who thought that he had a strong and established control over his court, was wrong. He was blinded by his love for Elina.

"How we act, how we walk, how we behave and even how we talk, it's all for the sake of others.. Why do they care!" Elina continued to tell her thoughts out as fresh tears once more hit Hayi's shirt.

"To the people, we are sinners. We were never meant to be in love due to how cruel both our families were to both the kingdoms in the past." Hayi responded back as he recalled how all the nobles in his court tried explaining.

Elina pulled away from him and wiped her tears away as she looked at a distance before her lips parted once more to speak. "...and in the end, it costs the happiness of our lifetime. All this started because of you and I... Isn't it funny how we are able to see the two kingdoms that once belonged to us, burn down to its core right now, all because we refused to obey to what others had to say." She said with a chuckle in the end.

She looked back at Hayi's tired eyes. His eyes were slowly shutting down due to how exhausted and tired he was. She brought her hands towards his face and cupped his cheeks. She tip-toed and reached his height as he supported his forehead on hers.

"I'm tired. I just want to end it all, Hayi." She said with a smile, tears slightly pricking at the ends of her eyes.

Hayi only hummed back in approval. "I'm...tired as well."

Elina only smiled as her thumbs caressed his  his tired face. "Then shall I suggest an idea?" She asked as she looked at the entrance to the abyss. Hayi hummed in approval, asking her to continue.

"Let's just jump into whatever hell it is, I don't want to continue with this torturous and miserable life."

"As long as you are with me, I'm willing to do it, Elina." Hayi responded back immediately as he took her hand from his face and kissed it.

Elina only chuckled as she fondly remembered the day she met him. A stoic cold person with the warmest's heart. "You sure don't sound like the rational man I've known you to be."

"Being rational never solved all my problems, so please..." He said as he walked towards the edge of the cliff. He noticed another entrance into the abyss and smiled. "So please..let's go together."

Elina walked over to where he stood and held his hand in hers as she looked up at him with a smile"You'll wait for me in the next hell as well, right?"

"Not just hell, I would wait for you in every life. I will love you, cherish you and never let you feel hurt ever again." He said with a fond little smile that made Elina blush slightly.

The two lovers looked at each other fondly before they shut their eyes and jumped down to the abyss, leaving their people and kingdoms away.

To them, it didn't matter anymore. The source of their problems started with the two kingdoms, so it was better off for them to cease existing.

Even as they dove into the black flames at the entrance of the Abyss, they held one another's hand firmly as they met their ends in the dark voids of Teyvat.
