"The procedure was done and his mother is no longer in a dangerous situation. Pheww~ What a long day it was today." Kaveh said as he let out a deep exhale while we walked back to a lodge where we had to stay.

"Right...Don't you think we should report about this doctor to the Corps of Thirty? What if he bullies the mother and child after we depart?" I asked to him.

"Hmm you're right. I think it'll be better if you report this to them than me having to do it all. After all if it's about you, Akademiya would do anything for a valued scholar. Unlike me, a broke architect who hasn't done anything noteworthy as of the moment." He said with a tone of pity. He was pitying himself.

I chuckled. "What made sir.Kaveh of the Kshahrewar so broke that he had to share the same roof with the Scribe of Akademiya, Alhaitham?"

"I have no idea if you're asking. The Palace of Alcazarzaray was the last thing I made and right as it was built, I couldn't see a single mora in my wallet. Nevertheless, it is a win-win situation. The Palace of Alcazarzaray has become my magnum opus."

"Ah yes I've heard about it too..Owned by that merchant Dori? I heard she's quite rich with mora although I don't understand why you have gone broke instead."

"Forget that, let's pretend we never talked about it. I'm going to finish my construction in the desert then return back to Sumeru and get working on building myself a mansion soon."

"Hah, seems like you're in a hurry to leave Alhaitham's company, although I'll admit you two would make a great couple..." I said to Kaveh but made sure the last line was said in a low tone.

"Talk a bit louder please, your voice is inaudible to me." Kaveh said as he slightly scoffed.

"Ahaha, nevermind...Um anyway did you see Alhaitham return today? Wasn't he supposed to arrive hours ago?" I asked as I suddenly was reminded of the man.

Kaveh blankly stared at me for a moment. "Oh. Right he had to arrive. Well I don't care, I'm sure he'll be out there completely fine."

"Unless this was one of his plots to ditch me in this random place and leave." I said back instantly earning a chuckle from Kaveh.

"I don't think so Y/n, only you can prove those theories right and those theories are the only things that make him piqued over." He said as he stopped walking.

I stopped and looked at him in confusion. "No forget it, I cannot seem to recall what he said about your theories long ago personally.." Kaveh said as he facepalmed.

"Oh a pity. Also Kaveh...if that guy actually doesn't return tomorrow morning, I'm going to go search all over the place. I cannot go in front of my professor or darshan's senior sages without completing my mission!"

Kaveh stood there for a moment, trying to comprehend whatever I said. He then sighed and began speaking,

"Although I despise Alhaitham, I'll accompany you. I have a condition though. Answer one question of mine. I need a genuine answer." He said as he crossed his arms across his chest and stood there with a grin on his face.

"Archons, you're so demanding... you'll be good at bargaining to reduce prices of goods, so I'll tag you along with me on my next grocery shopping. Anyway, go on I'll answer." I replied back to the man, placing my hand on my hip.

He giggled a bit. "So I don't mean to pry in but......oh god this is so embarrassing to ask...Are you perhaps in love with Alhaitham?"

Then and there at that moment, an unknown heat of denial and embarrassment climbed up all the way till my face. It burnt. I face palmed and responded back telling,

"Don't worry...I won't snatch your man. I'm not that cruel..."I mumbled back looking at him but his expression was a little more serious.

"No Y/n, there's nothing between us. Me? With that guy? Despite being his senior I don't even get respect from him. An ant may receive more respect than I could ever from him. But my question still isn't answered. Do you have any feelings for him?"

I never expected someone to ask such a question. It was yesterday that we were fighting each other using verbal 'scholar' terms like dogs barking at each other and today being asked if we had any feelings for one another? What a series of events.

Though the answer was no, somehow it never came out of throat. I desperately tried to say 'no' to Kaveh's question yet something prevented me from doing. I gulped nervously to answer him.

"I've been traveling for almost five days with him...I could say he's unlike the rumors I've heard...I do see him as a good companion while travelling besides the fact he takes the worst routes...." I began going on with words while Kaveh carefully listens to me.

This kept increasing my anxiety.

He did comfort me when I received the news of my mother's death, saved me from those rishboland tigers and even trusted me when I saw things that no person would believe to exist...

"Alright, forget it. I don't need your answer I just wanted to know if anything was going on as I never heard Alhaitham say good things about anybody, including me." Kaveh said as he sighed.

"Good things about me? As in?" I instantly asked back.

"A secret between us. If I let you know things such as this, Alhaitham might as well kill me then and there when he comes to realize it and if needed, he'll find me to do so. Anyway, its getting late. Get going Y/n. Have a night's good sleep." Kaveh said and left towards the lodge, while I stood there.

My heart was beating faster than usual. Why were so many thoughts going through my head? Why did Kaveh's question bother me so much?

Why do I feel like I'm in a dilemma? He's just....a friend...

A colleague...

A co-worker....

Then why? Why does this feeling keep bothering me?

I stood there beneath a street lamp, admiring the dark sky as confusing thoughts kept hitting me. The breeze gently brushed my hair away from my face. Little tiny drops of water came down.

I sigh heavily as I brought my palm out and felt the rain drops hit my palm making it cold.

"Have I started showing feelings for you that I'm not supposed to....?" I mutter to myself.
