THE SMELL OF BOOKS hit my nostrils, loving the scent all the more. Mr. Phillips waves at me to walk by him first before I go to my favorite place that is hidden from most eyes.
I wave back to signal that I'm on my way, with a smile obviously.
I walk softly not to get any glares or growls from anybody because my sensitive self won't be able to take them. I touch the stripes of my bag when I get to his disorganized table loaded with papers and books.
"Hey Liana, how was school today?" His voice in a worshiper not wanting to disturb anyone around that can hear, while beaming at me like a kindergartner given a pack of Recee's.
"Ordinary." The answer doesn't satisfy him nevertheless he nods, murmuring a low okay. With the lack of any words exchanged I simply smile at him and maneuver to the hideout spot.
Mr. Phillips has been the school's librarian since a year ago, I spent most of my time here hence we kicked off easily. He reminds me of dad regarding his fatherly personality, the admiration we both have for books and the support he pours all over me is just overwhelming - which I highly appreciating.
The hidden table comes into view and within seconds I have it all to myself, a tiny smile dance on my lips. Love the sound of that.
About an hour has passed while studying Chemistry since it honestly rendered me stupid today and still nothing makes sense. Is it really that important? Pfft I don't think so. I semi-slam all the open books from frustration and tiredness as I feel my stomach churn.
If disrespectful Taylor wasn't so rude I would have considered asking help from him, but I know very well my sensitive self won't be able to be rejected twice in a month.
I just don't get why he's so rude to me, his new here and I just somehow under his list of people he hates. The thought of how we never even got engaged in conversation makes this whole thing weird, how can you hate someone without evening knowing them?
The pain in my head seems to get even more worse the more I process today's events. I wish Zayden was here, wish being the keyword. After sabotaging Asher and I's potential get together.
Curse you universe for making this day awful.
I might seem somewhat desperate, but I don't give two craps, he ruined the chance of me going out with someone from school whom I really look forward to like so I can stop the infatuation I have for him.
I groan inwardly when I think about it, my hands find my face as I rub on it to get rid of this silly irritation.
Absent-minded I start to shuffle the scattered notebooks in my back, I head my way to the exit after informing Mr. Phillips. Twenty minutes walk won't be bad as I've gotten used to it after my beaten up car decided to stop operating two weeks ago.
A figure at the end of the hallway makes me want to halt and turn the other direction. My expression seems to portray what I badly want to do because Zayden runs up to me.
"Please don't run away, I came to apologize for early on, for being a..." before he can continue I butt in.
"...a jerk, acting like my big brother and ruining my one time chance of going out with someone." His face turns more guilty at what I said. He steps forward trying to touch me, but I step back creating a reasonable distance between us as his chocolate deep brown eyes that are framed with thick, black lashes and obviously covered by silver framed spectacles.
"I'm really sorry Lia, I never meant too but I kind of messed up. I'll treat you with cupcakes for the whole week as an apology." He does that puppy dog eyes I can't resist, but I won't give up that easily hence all I do is a glare at him.
"Are you bribing me, Ledger? Is that what you can come up with after being a total asswip to your one and only best friend?" Calling him by his middle name makes him drop the cute face and cringe. I giggle at his reaction as I close the distance in front of us in order to playfully punch his chest.
"So am I forgiven Reeve?" Smirking down at me as I roll my eyes at him not forgetting to punch him again.
"Only if I get cupcakes for two weeks in a row." I suggest, a smug smile plastered on my lips waiting for him to obviously say yes and he does as predicted.
"I'm dropping you off, no room for arguing. I won't be a good best friend if I left you walk home while it can rain anytime." My attempts of politely refusing the offer are cut short as I look at the cloudy sky with no sight of the sun.
"Thank you Zaynie." I smile up at him as he chuckles at the nickname before tagging to his white Mercedes Benz.
I will never get used to his insanely high class life, with a father that runs a multi-million business and a mother who is the second best surgeon doctor in town, money is never a problem for him to afford a fancy car and other luxuries items.
Everything is given to him in a silver platter with no questions asked, anything he demand will be on his door in seconds.
