When I awoke, I was home, on the couch, still in my red, sequined top and my jeans. I sat up slowly, swinging my legs over the side and stretching. Tyler must have carried me home.
Tyler.
Heat rose to my cheeks, my hand going to my chest, to be met with the comforting cold of the necklace he gave me last night. I grasped it tight.
I guess this would make Tyler my... boyfriend.
It felt so right, yet so wrong at the same time. We were old enough to date, sensible enough to know just what these feelings were, and yet... and yet I felt odd stepping into shoes as his girlfriend.
When we're together, I'm taken back to the summers in the sea, the salt in his hair, the seaweed in mine, our laughter, our screams, our small hands clasped tightly in one another.
To overwrite that with a new chapter was something I was still unsure of, however excited I felt when I thought of his lips on mine, his hands on my waist.
I cross the hallway to the stairs, and walk to the bathroom, washing myself at the sink briefly. I change into a hoodie and sweatpants, tying my hair into a top-knot, and sitting at my computer. I open Yahoo! Answers and type in:
"I have a new boyfriend, my first one, what should I do?"
Then I realised the severity of my mistake. The comments section spared no mercy.
"I think we got a kid."
"She might be 10."
"Go on a date with him and get him flowers! Men wanna be spoiled too! :("
"If you're coming to the internet for help, you're already doing a terrible job of being a girlfriend."
Some answers were better than others. I sigh. Maybe the last person was right. I should know how to go about this by myself.
"Juju?" May called. "Have you woken up?"
"Yeah!" I shout back.
May appeared in the doorway, leaning against it.
"Mom's gone to work. You, missy, have a lot to explain to me."
She took a seat on my bed and crossed her legs, waiting for me to speak. When I only blinked at her slowly, she groaned.
"What the hell happened with Tyler yesterday?!" she asked annoyedly.
"Oh." was all that managed to escape me.
"Don't oh me, Winters. Tell me everything!"
"Wh- Why do I gotta?"
"Because you're my twin sister. It is a part of the contract we signed when we decided to be conceived in the same womb that you tell me everything that goes on in your love life."
"... I don't remember being able to hold a pen, let alone write my own name-"
"It's a figurative contract, silly. Besides, I tell you everything about my boys!"
"That's because your boys and their bullshit are actually entertaining to listen to."
"Oh my God, just tell me what happened!"

We've cleared the suburbs and were almost there.
The Serpent matched my speed. My feet muddied through wet dirt, but all I wanted was to go faster. I wouldn't stop until he was with me. Until I was within an arm's reach of him.
