Courtney's POV

I stare out the window at the miles of grass.
I'm going to be spending the next three months at Sunny Hills. A summer camp for kids that are more "fortunate" than others.

"Courtney!" I hear my mom say
"What?" I say back as I pull my earbud out
"Headphones, please? This is our last two hours together!" She says
I pause the music on my iPod and pull the other earbud out
(This is based in 2007)

"It wouldn't be if you hadn't decided to send me to Sunny Hills." I say
She gives me a disappointed look "you know it'll be good for you, Courtney." She says
"Sure it will" I say back

She turns back and faces the road
"Courtney, you need to socialize" my dad says
"I have plenty of friends back home" I say, slightly raising my voice

Nobody says anything else for about half an hour

I know that I'm lying to myself. Those girls aren't really my friends. There dads just so happen to be rich lawyers like mine.
The only reason I don't want to go is because of my brother, mason.

Him and I are very similar. The only difference is that I can fake having friends and he can't.
I honestly feel bad. But, there was no turning back now.

"You definitely have everything?" My mom asks, cracking the long silence.
"Mhm" I say as I nod

TWO HOURS LATER

We pull up a long cement driveway. At the end, is a big house with a bunch of smaller houses behind it, a lake, a basketball court, a volleyball court and a whole bunch more.

I open the car door and grab my duffel bag.
I walk up the stone pathway to the house with my parents trailing behind me.
The door to the house is already open so, we walk in.

"Cathy!" A small, plump woman says to my mom from behind the desk.
"Amanda! How good to see you!" My mom replies

They converse for a couple minutes before 'Amanda' hands me a piece of paper
"That just has your cabin, bunk, counselors and cabin mates on it" she says with a sweet smile
" Thanks" I say

"Well, I guess this is goodbye" my mom says
I hug her and my dad
"Love you guys" I say
"Love you too" they say as they walk out of the house.

15 MINUTES LATER

I eventually find my cabin and set my stuff down.

I walk out to try and find the basketball court.
I see a big group of girls crowded around something

I decide to check it out but, when I get there, I see that it isn't something but someone.

Okk that's chapter 1 Lemme know what you think!
