8 - Nerves

Meanwhile you’re pacing around trying to find things to distract yourself to pass the time. You take your laundry to the laundromat down the block, organize your bedroom bookshelf, and flip through some TV channels in the living room. These definitely help kill the time, but the thought of meeting Karamatsu and his family still lingers in the back of your head, making it hard for you to relax. Augh, you just want to stop waiting around and get the awkward part over with already!

After watching half an hour of a random talk show you check your phone and notice it’s about half an hour until noon. You promptly hop up to your feet and go to fetch the leather jacket. When you put the location Karamatsu gave you into your phone’s GPS it said it would be about a 20 minute walk, so now would be the perfect time to take off.

You walk over to your full length bedroom mirror to take one last look at yourself, before grabbing your purse, and heading out the door.

A refreshing breeze greets you as you step outside. It’s a bit chilly in your sundress, but the sun is out on full display, and helps to warm your skin inbetween the cool gusts of wind.

You pull out your phone and type a quick message to Karamatsu to let him know you’re on your way, before clicking your GPS app to let it direct you down the street.

Karamatsu is in the middle of rehearsing what to say to you in the bathroom mirror when he hears his phone ping.

He frantically fumbles to fish his phone from his pants pocket, and promptly pulls it out to check if you texted him.

He gasps when he reads your message, and runs over to the living room to alert his siblings.

“Code red! Code red! Y/N is on her way!”

Osomatsu, who had been sitting slouched on the couch, grins and straightens up. “Oooh, exciting~”

Choromatsu, who was reading some manga at the kotatsu, blinks in surprise as he looks up at his brother. “Oh, is it that time already?”

Ichimatsu looks up at Karamatsu with an unamused gaze. Looks like he was in the middle of reading some cat themed magazine once again.

Jyushimatsu, who was watching TV, perks up and throws his arms in the air. “Hooray!”

Aaaand Todomatsu isn’t even there.

Karamatsu nods and places his hands on his hips. “That’s right. So if you have anything you need to do before she gets here then do it now!”

Choromatsu closes his manga and stands up. “I guess I should finish getting ready.”

“Well.. you don’t need to worry about going overboard.”

Choromatsu rolls his eyes and walks past Karamatsu to head towards the bedroom. “Relax.”

Karamatsu looks over his other siblings who haven’t moved from their spots. He makes a face when he sees what Osomatsu is wearing: a wrinkled red t-shirt and baggy gray sweatpants.

“Are you planning on wearing that?”

Osomatsu blinks and looks over at Karamatsu. “Huh? Me?”

Karamatsu nods. “Yes you! You look so.. sloppy!”

Ichimatsu peeks up from his magazine again. “Is that anything new?”

“Well.. no. But still! We have a special guest today.”

Osomatsu just chuckles. “Aren’t you overdoing it, Karamatsu? I don’t think she’ll care what I’m wearing. She doesn’t even know me.”

Karamatsu hesitates. “But.. what if she thinks less of me because she assumes my older brother is a slob?”
