"You're too quiet Ness." She sighed. "I need you to talk if you're driving with me today. About literally anything."
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Normally you don't want me to say a word. Not unless I'm screaming it anyway." Her words faded as she finished the sentence like she didn't want to say it and they just fell out and she had no control over her tongue. I knew for a fact she did.
"I just need something to focus on right now." She sighed. "So come on what's new?" I glanced at her quickly, taking my eyes off the road for a second and her eyes narrowed.
"You're acting weird."
"No, I'm not."
"Yeah. You are." She turned the volume down. "You never want anyone to drive with you. You like silence. You don't like distractions. I'm barely convinced you like me. I saw you staring at Huxley's girl last night and then you 2 sauntering off into the woods and then not even 10 hours later, you're demanding I get in your car for a 6-hour drive. Then whilst I'm in here you haven't touched me once, normally after 10 minutes of us being together, you've got my hands on you. And you ask me what's new like we ever talk about our personal lives Emerson. You're being weird and it's throwing me off."
I was slightly taken aback by that. Nessa was timid. Quiet. Never spoke a word out of place. It's one of the things I liked about our whatever it was. It wasn't hard work. I didn't have to fight her on shit. There was no expectations because she knew where I stood. She knew this was just sex and nothing more.
"So, what's new with you huh?" She turned in her seat, almost completely facing me on tilted head. "Why am I suddenly worthy of speaking to?"
"Don't be like that Nessa. We talk all the time."
"No. We don't. That's not how we work. It's not how you work." I don't know what was worse. Having a girl, I couldn't have in my head or a girl I had causing drama. Neither would make things a hell of a lot simpler. "Why do you need a distraction?"
"What?"
"Is it Callie?" I looked at her, barely for a second. "Because that's all that's changed. I was expecting you to talk to me last night. The way you looked at me before the bus got there. I waited for your text or the knock on the door that never came."
"I was busy."
"Busy with what?"
"So many questions Vanessa."
"You wanted me to talk, so I'm talking. Answer me."
"That's not how this works sweetheart." I slowly pulled the car into a layby, turning the engine off and turning to her. "I don't take demands. I make them."
"Well, the table's turned." She crossed her arms, eyebrow raised. Something had changed in her. Like a switch had been flicked and suddenly she was the polar opposite of the girl I knew.
"What's wrong Ness?" She swallowed, shook her head.
"Nothing is wrong Emerson. I want to-"
"You want to know I'm not sleeping with Callie." She stared. "Ness. You know the rules. I don't ask who else you're seeing; you don't ask me." Her demeanour changed, that quiet girl coming back for a second as she broke the eye contact. "She's Ace's kid Ness. Nothing could ever happen between us. I'd be stupid to think it could right? He'd kill me. I know for a fact he loves that girl more than anything." She sighed and I leaned over unclipping her belt. "Go lay down."
"What?" I didn't answer, just nodded into the back, getting out of the car, and pulling the back open. Converting the back of my van into a bedroom was the best decision I ever made. I slammed the door closed, ducking my head, and waiting for her to climb through before pulling on the privacy curtain I'd installed.
"You're jealous Nessa. Of a girl you haven't even seen me speaking too."
"I am no-"
"Ah." I pressed my thumb over her lip, gripping her chin tight. "What are we Ness?"
"Nothing." I nodded.
"No expectations."
"No rules."
"No commitments." I finished and she nodded. "Have you changed your mind on that?"
"No."
"Right. So why are you jealous?" She sighed and I turned her, backing her up to sit on the bed as I got to my knees, tugging her shoes off slowly.
"I just want to be the only person you're like this with." I pressed my lips into her skin slowly working up to her knees. "I know I shouldn't. I know that goes against everything but I like knowing I have you to myself."
"No expectations Ness."
"I know. God, I know." She sighed again, collapsing backwards, and covering her face. "I don't want anything more. I like this. I'm just being selfish."
"You're allowed to be selfish sometimes Nessa. Nothing wrong with it. Wanting me to yourself is a valid thing to want. It just can't happen."
"So, you are with her too?" I sighed, biting down on her skin until she yelped. "EMERSON."
"Vanessa."
"Answer me." I rolled my eyes and climbed up until I was hovering over her, wrapping my hand around her neck gently applying pressure to the sides until she whimpered.
"Was that another demand?"
"I want to know Em."
"You don't get to know."
"I'm taking it as a yes."
"Do you need me to tie and gag you to this bed again Vanessa? Because you know too damn well I will." Her eyes went wide. "2 choices. You decide. You stop asking and I'm real nice to you right now, or you keep asking that question that I'm not going to answer and I end up shoving my cock so far down your throat you forget what it was you were wanting to know. I'll fuck you until you're about to come like the little whore you are and then I'll leave you back here, naked unable to touch yourself as I finish this drive. Make your choice and make it now." Her eyes didn't leave mine for even a second, barely blinking, barely moving. I had no doubt my avoidance on answering the question gave her everything she needed to know but I didn't want to talk about it. I slept with Callie once. By the look on her face this morning, the way she seemed to not care last night, I highly doubted that chance would ever present itself again. And no matter how crap that was because, god Callie was unfucking real. No matter how bad it was it wasn't going to happen again, it was probably for the best. "Now Vanessa."
"The first."
"Good girl." She exhaled. "Jumper off angel. Show me what I want."
