The alleyway was illuminated by the streetlight at the corner. I walked out of the dorm area and stopped nearby to use my phone.

Grinning, I put my phone away and waited till I heard a quiet beep on my phone.

Winnie 🐥

d_sicheng: behind you

I turned around and saw Sicheng standing a couple of feet away. I was happy to see him after a long time—he recently came back from a trip—so I ran up to him and gave him a hug attack. Sicheng placed his index finger over my lips.

"Shh, do you want the whole dormitory to find out we're here?"

I shook my head but giggled anyway. We walked deeper into the quiet alley as Sicheng talked about his trip, mainly focusing on the Jeongdong Theater. When we were near the location, I stopped Sicheng. He returned a confused expression which included his arms crossed together in front of his chest and his feet aligned with his shoulders. The right side of his face shimmered under the streetlight. He must've completed his night skincare routine before I disturbed him.

Oh wait, I'm supposed to be talking about the surprise, not the charming man in front of me.

Stepping closer, I stood on my toes and leaned into his left ear.

"Follow me," I whispered.

I turned around and entered a narrow hidden alleyway. I heard Sicheng's footsteps behind me as he followed me through the alley. It wasn't as bright as the streets and I wasn't too familiar with the alley which made me a little nervous. Soon, we stopped in front of a tiny shop that had traditional red lanterns on either side. I glanced at Sicheng, the sparkle in his eyes, the neon lights across his face, his lips slightly apart as he stared in awe. Those few moments passed in silence until Sicheng cleared his throat. I blinked a couple of times and looked back at the door.

"This store is what you wanted to show me?" Sicheng asked.

I hesitated, then nodded in response.

Did he not like it? I thought he-

"Are you just going to stand there?"

My thoughts were interrupted by the opening of the door and I saw Sicheng walk inside. I quickly entered behind him and smiled at the familiar atmosphere. I looked at Sicheng who had already had a packet of shrimp chips in his hand. I shook my head and returned a small smile. We walked through the aisle looking at rows of Asian snacks.

"Where did you even find this store?"

I shrugged and replied, "Luck, I guess."

"Oh, look, they have Yanyan," Sicheng reached out for a blue cylinder that had an image of cream-colored sticks covered in white cream.

I took the red cylinder next to it. It had a similar image of the sticks covered in brown cream.

"You like the chocolate ones?" Sicheng asked as I nodded.

"When I was little, I would always eat these as I read comic books on the weekends. It was so releasing."

"Yeah, I would always eat them when I got home. I'll never forget how I had a secret stash of these so my sister wouldn't find them."

"You have a sister?"

"Yea, I have two actually. One's married and living in the States, the other one is studying abroad in New Zealand."

"Wow, that's nice. So you're the oldest?"

"Middle child actually," Sicheng noted. "You're an only child, correct?"

"Yeah, did I tell you that before?"

Sicheng nodded and we continued walking through the different aisles. However, I stopped and stared at a specific snack as my jaw dropped. Sicheng, who turned around with a confused face, chuckled at my expression.

"I am SO buying this!" I exclaimed and grabbed the bag that read Creamy Candy White Rabbit.

"That candy is so iconic," Sicheng commented.

"I never thought I would've heard you use the word iconic."

Before following Sicheng out of the aisle, I grabbed another packet and then handed it to him. We walked out of the store after paying for the snacks and thanking the owner. The alleyway was as quiet as before but now it was filled with the sound of our quick footsteps.

In a couple of minutes, it was just the sound of my footsteps that made me pause and look for Sicheng. He stood a few feet behind me, gazing at the shop with a huge smile on his face, his arms holding a bag filled with snacks.

"Thank you for bringing me here. I loved it."

I smiled back, my heart felt content seeing him happy.
