"Mingxia!"

Winter greeted me with an excited expression as she threw open my door. I glanced at her phone which displayed a video call with Giselle.

"Yo Minnie, how are you doing?" Giselle asked.

My face brightened up at the sound of a familiar voice. It was nice to see an old friend again, even through a video call, especially since I didn't have that many close friends at college.

"I'm okay, how are you doing? How's college life in Japan? It must feel nice to be back in your home country."

"Yeah, college is fine. It's good to be back in Japan" Giselle replied. "Oh guess what, you know the new friend I made?"

"Shotaro?" Winter asked.

"Yeah, apparently we went to the same elementary school. He was even in my class!"

"Wow, that's cool," I said.

"Yeah. Have you guys made friends in South Korea? I know it must be hard for you to get used to the lifestyle there, Minnie."

"I made a few new friends," Winter told Giselle.

"Yeah, and thanks to Winter I also made a new friend," I added as I thought of Sicheng.

"It was through a study group we're in," Winter added.

"Oh, that's a great idea. Thanks, girls," Giselle noted. "I'm gonna look for study groups since midterms are around the corner."

We caught up on each others' lives for a while before our conversation ended.

"I need to go eat dinner now," Giselle said. "It was nice talking to you guys."

"Same here, we miss you a lot," I told her.

The call ended and Winter turned towards me.

"It's been a while since it's just the two of us. Do want to get dinner together?"

I nodded before we both parted ways to change into more fancy dresses. Winter usually eats with Karina so I was a little surprised, but mostly glad she invited me for dinner. As she said, it really had been a while.

I'm glad Giselle and Winter are still my friends. We may be far apart or not meet often, but we're still here for each other.
