"Cute," Sicheng whispered to me.

"That's why I'll name it Winnie...no, I'll name it Winwin."

I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of the mini snowman that I made.

"If you're going to name yours after me, then I'll name mine after you. Panda it is."

Sicheng clicked a picture of his mini snowman. I stood up, stepped back, and squatted to take a picture of him with his mini snowman. We were squatting on the ground and giggling with each other until a chilly wind traveled past us, causing us to become silent. But we burst out into laughter after a second.

"We should go back to the dorms before its past curfew," Sicheng stood up.

We walked away from the hot pot restaurant—it was Christmas Eve and we decided to have dinner together. Another gust of wind blew past us, causing me to fix my hat. I glanced at Sicheng as we walked back in silence.

I think we always had our moments of silence, but it was never really awkward, more like...comfortable silence.

Speaking of silence, Sicheng soon broke it.

"Hey, I have a question, I hope it's not too direct," he said. "By any chance...do you like me?"

We walked a few more steps in silence.

"Please, be honest. I don't want any awkwardness between us."

I sigh and respond, "If I say yes, we'll stop being friends."

"Who said we had to stop being friends? Look, I might not like you romantically but I do want to be friends with you—" Sicheng leaned in and whispered, "—best friends if you're cool with that."

I nodded and returned a grin.
