TW: Self harm
--Krista's Pov--
"Michael, please. This is urgent," I sigh as I rub my head, "our daughter needs you. Call me back. Please." As I hang up and set my phone on my desk, Tara walks into my office.
"Still nothing?"
"This isn't like him. I've called him about Emilia, texted him even, and he still hasn't read them. I think something's wrong."
It'd been two days since everything at the bookstore. Beck explained to me that the headmaster was beginning to lose it, perhaps he already had. He explained it all that day when I saw him coming out of Ivan's office. That there was something dark seemingly targeting my daughter.
And he had a theory that whatever this is was targeting Ivan as well.
"It's just so strange. I've felt this energy before but it was weak. How could it be getting stronger?" Tara asks.
"Blake said that the ring he gave Emilia was supposed to shield negative energy. And that darkness was dormant until she put it on," it still made no sense to me, "did Blayne say anything?"
"Only that Emilia may be a descendant of some old witch back during the Blood War."
I shake my head, "if she is, it's on Michael's side. Fuck, if only he'd respond."
"Is she doing okay?" She asks me.
"Yeah. For the most part."
I noticed when Emilia walked out of the house this morning that she was perfectly fine. Almost as if it never happened. Luckily she was going out with Quinn. She was nice.
I just wished her and Billie would bury the hatchet.
"Could you keep an eye on her for me? And if you can, could you see about Billie?"
She nods, "sure."
"Tony told me what was happening with her when I saw him leaving Maggie's the other day. I'm worried about her. God, what the fuck is happening?"
"Maybe the world is finally coming to an end," she jokes.
--No One's Pov--
As Emilia followed Quinn into a less expensive restaurant, she had an itching feeling that she was being watched. But maybe it was just her paranoia.
They sat in a booth, picking up their menus to see what that place had to offer. Quinn kept going on about the mess at the bookstore, apologizing that she wasn't there only to add there wasn't much she could have done but would have tried her best.
Quinn thought the place was robbed, for fuck's sake. How was Emilia supposed to explain that the damage was done when she was nearly kidnapped by a warlock? She felt the other girl had a lot to worry about.
After getting their food, Emilia pushed it around with her fork, still far out of thought as she stared at the ring on her finger. The metal was starting to irritate her. Just a simple movement would send fire through her whole hand.
Surely it wasn't her. Maybe she just had it on too long.
She could hear Quinn talking as she ate, muffled words failing to reach her brain as her vision started to blur out everything around her.
"Oh, by the way, my dad says he really wants to meet you. I talk about you a lot, ya know?" Quinn jokes, the friendly smile on her face faltering when she noticed Emilia zoned out, "did you hear me?"
