I shot up from my bed, head pounding. I calmed down and groaned, rubbing my head and flopping back onto my pillow. I stared at the ceiling, trying to piece together the pieces of my dream.

there was a man, I remember that. he had faded blue hair and icy blue eyes. he had a white shirt and blue pants on. he was curled into a ball in a large red room. That wasn't the weird part, though, not at all.

he was crying.

almost glowing tears were coming from his eyes, and I could see dried blood on his chest. his arms were covered in scars. he then looked up at me, almost as if he knew I was there. then I woke up.

I sighed, sitting back up and swinging my legs over the side of the bed. I stood and headed to the door. whatever. I'm just going to-

ask Xornoth.

I blinked as that thought disappeared as fast as it came. what was that? I shrugged. guess I'm asking Xornoth.

as I approached their door, I could see the little clock I found. Xornoth must have been in there all night. As I walked, I bumped into that black-haired servant from the other night. She muttered a quick apology and rushed off. I continued on my way, reaching the door. I knocked, and went in at the sound of a quiet "come in."

My demon lover was sitting at their desk, stacks of paper surrounding them. their eyes had dark shadows underneath, and their dark red hair looked as if they hadn't brushed it in weeks. I walked towards them, wrapping my arms around their neck and kissing their cheek. I could feel Xornoth stiffen before relaxing and reaching up to ruffle my hair. "morning sweetheart." "good morning honey." I grinned, planting another kiss on their forehead. "how long have you been here?" they sighed. "hours. but house blossom had a shortage of food, and I'm trying to gain control of the remains of the cod empire, but it's a slow process. The point is," they shook their head. "it's been a long week."

"Well, you should take a break soon. you need to rest to be a good leader." they just grunted in response, but I could see a small smile on their face. it warmed my heart. then I remembered my purpose. "speaking of which, I had a question for you." "ask away, darling."

"do you know a man with blue hair?"

they turned to me, their previously content expression turning into a face full of confusion, and- was that anger? "why do you ask?" "well I just had a weird dream, and I thought you might know. you know, since you are so smart." I flirted, trying to get an explanation. the redhead's soft smile came back, and they sighed. "right, sorry. I do know someone like that. my brother. he died a few years ago."

I gasped. "oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know." "it's ok. I got over it." they turned back to their paper. "he was a great brother, though." "ok, well thank you Xorny. that's all I needed." I unwrapped my arms from their neck, and went to leave, before hearing their voice. "oh, Joey, by the way." "yes, honey?" I turned to see my lover looking straight at me. "don't go around asking about him. it's a sensitive subject for the servants." I nodded and left.

I walked towards my room and grabbed the doorknob to have a nap. but something stopped me. something told me something wasn't right.

I turned away from the bedroom, heading back down the hall, and past Xornoths office. I walked through the gates of the temple, grabbed my coat, and set off.

towards Rivendell.
