The bus starts now, and I am relieved. If I can get to the apartment, get my stuff, and get out right away, I can escape having any confrontation with Ronny. I'll take an e-ride to my Art classes. The bus stops right in the corner of where my apartment is. I hurriedly ran off the bus and headed to my apartment. Please let the elevator work. I pray. I find myself in front of the elevator, and the sign is up:
Elevator close under maintenance
No determined finish date.I can't believe what I am reading. Well, it's time to run like the wind up the stairs. As I run, I mumble I need a new place, and this is too much anymore. I finally got to my apartment without incident and put my key in the lock to unlock the door. Ah, the air conditioning feels nice. The worst part of everything going haywire is that I haven't taken my pills. So I go to the bathroom cabinet and dump all my pills in my backpack. Then I grabbed my teddy bear, a bunch of clothes, and money I had stored in my underwear drawer.
"Sade!" I jump. It sounds like Sonny. "I'm sorry about all that happened with Ronny" He scratches the back of his head. "But he learned his lesson. Please don't do anything else."
I have my things together, and I'm walking out of the apartment. "Sonny, I didn't do anything. Your brother did. Don't try to make me feel guilty for something he did. By the way, I so happen to see him earlier, and he looks just fine."
"Sade, look" Sonny starts to walk down the stairs with me. I walk quicker, and he keeps up the pace. I stop, and in an irritated tone, I tell him, " Enough! I am not coming back! If I do, it will be with someone to pick up my things. I will see you around. Now excuse me. I have to leave before I run into your psycho brother!"
Sonny looks hurt, and I can see the tears start in his eyes. "Sonny, I'm sorry, and you are so sweet. Your brother did something bad. Just don't do what he did. I will always wish you the best." I lean over and kiss him on his cheek. Sonny grabs my hand and holds it there. With his tearful eyes and a rough tone, he says, "Okay, Sade, good luck with everything."I step out of the apartment and wave back. "I'll visit, and I promise" I get in the e-ride, and with tears in my eyes, I mouth, "Goodbye, everyone. It's time to move on."
