As quick as Vale was conquered it was also abandoned by its allies. Atlas troops who had been sent to bulk the counter invasion evacuated to the nearby island of Patch off the cost of mainland Vale. They fortified the island and waited. And waited, for the enemy to come to them.
But they would not help any of the citizens who had begged for help. No instead they subjugated the locals and began to forget about the threat just across the waters.
The islanders were obviously displeased with their "saviors" As they liked to refer to them as. The people looked to the leaders and demanded action, the local huntsmen were the only ones with actual combat training and most of them had moved to Patch as a retirement. The few able-bodied huntsmen were too few to fight back against the Atlaeasian armada that had all but swallowed their island.
3rd POV:
A small meeting was being held at the home of Taiyang Xiao Long. The people who had arrived were scared, angry, confused and tired. Taiyang a local teacher was hoping to inspire the people to stand up against the military that they had welcomed with open arms.
He was failing miserably.
Taiyang: Look I know it's a long shot, but we need to band together!
An older looking man looked at him with a hint of anger but quickly looked down at his grandchild in front of him.
Old man: We can do nothing, because there is nothing that will stop them.
The group look to him and see tears in his eyes.
Taiyang: L-look we have to do something! My kids are still at Beacon!
A middle-aged woman scoffs.
Karen: So, they're as good as dead! The sooner you admit that the better.
Rage filled Taiyang's eyes, and he stands up and rushes the Karen.
The old man trips Taiyang using his cane and Taiyang falls to the floor.
He slowly gets up and walked away into his kitchen and the meeting falls apart.
Later Tai is watching Tv when the broadcast switches to a wedding...
The bride was beautiful... familiar too...
The Groom? A hulking mass in armor and the "priest" was a small creature wearing robes. Most of the guests are similar looking creatures or people with chains on their feet...
The Bride stops and the groom lifted the Veil...
Taiyang gets lightheaded when he sees...
