"Coffee."

I take the cup off the table and ring it to his waiting lips. Coding takes longer than I thought it would. The lights are all turned on but it's bright enough to feel like day if not for M.Cs phone lighting up to blare an alarm for 4 am. M.C once told me that he wakes up earlier to work out and practice his coding. I didn't know he meant this early.

I switch off the alarm and stifle a yawn, I've never been awake this long and my eyes are getting heavier by the minute. M.C notices. "You can go to bed."

"I should be telling you that." I rub my eyes. I don't know much about coding and how to help but I could at least keep him company. I doesn't feel right to leave him to do my work, even if we still have that awkward cloud hanging over our heads from what happened earlier. "Coffee?"

"Please." He sighs.

I pour the liquid into his mouth and it goes down his throat greedily. He wipes his lips and sighs, leaning back to rub his eyes, sore from staring at a screen for so long. "Damn..."

I bite the inside of my cheek, guilt pulling my lips into a frown. I want to know more about myself. More about Yvonne, why my father never mentioned her- or any sort of relative before- but not at M.C's expense. "We should stop here."

"No..."

"Yes."

He looks at me, eyes tired and amused. "No."

"Yes. And I'm the leader of this operation, so what I say goes."

He smirks. "Oh, yeah?" He props his elbows on the table, and he blinks slowly, a smile playing on his lips. "And what would be the name of our team?" He's giving me that amused look that he usually does when he's waiting for me to give my usually silly answer to his usually silly question, looking at me like I'm the most interesting person in the world.

"On the contrary, we're a duo. Not a team." I counter, trying to sound imperious and it must work because he rolls his eyes. I know he's just talking to dispel the awkward air from earlier and it's working. It's so easy to talk to M.C sometimes. Actually, talking with all the turtles is surprisingly easy, unlike when I was home, where my father told lies so obviously that I'm ashamed I believed him.

I lean back on the stool and make a long humming sound, pretending to think. "How about 'The amazing Y/N and her sidekick, the computer turt."

He bursts into surprised laughter. "How come you're amazing Y/N and I'm computer turt?"

I shrug, a warm feeling spreading into my chest. "I don't make the rules."

"Who does?"

"That's classified information that I refuse to share with a mere computer turt."

"Not loving the name."

"Too bad, It's a requirement to be a part of our duo."

He smiles, his eyes warm with something I'm both familiar and not familiar with. I've seen that look before. He goes back to his computer, smile lingering.

I raise a brow. "What?"

"I like that."

"What?"

"Our duo."

I grin at him. "Of course! We're like Gumball and Darwin!"

His smile grows wider. "Finn and Jake."

I laugh at the cartoon reference. "Spongebob and Patrick!"

"Lilo and Stitch." He's grinning.

I laugh and lift my hand for a high five, giddy from this night's antics and lack of sleep. "Us against the world!"
