"How long do you think they'll be out?" I ask, eyeing Swifts and Rebel's sleeping bodies warily. A sick feeling coils in my stomach and I frown, if not for the slow breathing, they are still enough to pass off as dead.

After forming our plan, M.C suggested it was crucial that Swift and Rebel didn't find out what we are doing. I agreed because I am still unsure of Swift's intentions.

I, however, did not agree to this.

M.C does not share my concerns. "A solid couple of hours." he glances at me, grabbing Swift's limp arms. "What's with the face?"

My frown deepens. "I feel like a criminal."

"Join the club."

I glare at him and he sighs.

"They're Fine..." He rolls his eyes, dragging Swift to the couch like a sack of potatoes. he does not even stir. "Swift used to do the same to me all the time when he was up to shady shit. Its completely harmless."

I turn to Ghost and he raises both hands in defense. "Dont look at me. Youre the leader of this operation."

Its later into the night and everything is ready. Ghost has some old busted up car he fixed up a while ago ready on the surface and M.C was able to slip something into Rebel and Swifts food and they slumped over the table. I thought he was just going to make the fall into deeper sleep while they were already in bed. Not while i'm eating my omlette.

But i suppose they got the job done either way.

I clutch the "Cool guy" tot bag that I borrowed from M.C, and lean over Swifts body, for good measure (And a tiny bit of revenge) I flick his forehead and it falls backwards. I place my hand over his mouth. He's breathing. okay. Everything is Okay.

"Alright. I just need to check for a few things and we'll be set to go." I stand and head over to Swifts room while Ghost and M.C sort out the other things. Ever since i snuck into his room its now not only lock protected but also password protected. But Swift has terrible memory and uses the same password for everything so i type in '5w1fT' and the lock clicks and opens.

I wasnt able to go through all his stuff last time but now i have more free reign. I cant take anything, just incase he wakes up and finds all his stuff missing, so i pull out M.Cs phone and take pictures of everything. The board, The tables, the newspapers, anything i feel like i could use later. I find the newspaper about My supposed death poking out from under his bed and swipe it.

He probably doesn't even know that its there and if he misses it he can get another. Easy Peasy.

Before leaving, I take another look at the room. Last time i was here, i was able to get in contact with my dad and he seemed so sad and desperate to get me back. On one hand, hes till my dad and i still love him and miss him. on the other hand, im still here, meaning he probably hasn't given Swift whatever hes demanding so maybe im not as important as i thought. my stomach swirls with disappointment.

"Alright, lets go." I say as i walk back into the living room. Ghost opens up to the surface and i take a few seconds to breathe in the fresh air from the outside. Between my fathers mansion and the Crib, I don't get much opportunities like this, so i try to savor it before slipping into the back seat of Ghost's car. The windows are tinted dark  and It has a smell to it, not great but not horrible either and it reminds me of cigarettes, the inside looks good but old and worn but if Ghost says it works I'll believe him. "Where did you get this?"

"Some junk yard, it was mostly in good condition." Ghost says, to my surprise, he gets into the back seat with me.

M.C gets into the driver's seat. "Define 'Good condition.'"

"i mean, walking is always an option."

M.C smiles and turns the key to start the car. The engine shutters and puffs and stops. He tries again and it makes a sound i can only describe as a very old man coughing his lungs out.

I raise a brow at Ghost. "'Good condition?'"

"I swear it."

M.C tries again and it rumbles to life, loudly at first and then softly. "There we go, all set. Seatbelts on please."

"Meh meh meh meh." I mimic, grinning as M.C playfully through the rear view mirror. To my surprise, Ghost crosses over me to slide the seat belt over me, so close that his skin brushes mine and I hold my breath before he clicks it closed and puts on his own seat belt. He does it casually but he knows what he's doing. Or maybe I'm just delusional.

I let out a strangled laugh. "Since when are you so worried about safety?"

"Well-," He's looking out the window and smiles, but its too tight and doesn't reach his eyes. "You never know what could happen..."

"Oh..." I suddenly remember the newspaper in my bag and the carcrash. I start to notice what I did not notice before, his arms crossed over his body, the stiff lean against the door and the anxious bounce of his knee. He's nervous."Thats fair."

I want to reach out and touch him but that doesn't seem appropriate anymore. I try to keep my hands busy but find myself opening the search engine. I haven't even typed my name in yet, but the repetition of how many times I've tried today is staring back at me, occasionally punctuated by Yvonne. Agaist my better judgement, I try again. Nothing.

Our plan is half assed and spontaneous at best. Its not proper step by step planning like Swift or Rebel would have done and we have no concrete information, but I'm desperate and it's something and I suppose the not knowing is part of the adventure.

I glance up at M.C whose eyes are glued dutifully to the road. This is the most responsible I've ever seen him and I cant help but be impressed. He catches my eye through the rearview and smiles. "What?"

"We haven't crashed yet."

"You seem disappointed?"

"Im just surprised. I didn't even know you could drive." I say.

"What can I say? I'm full of surprises."

I roll my eyes and lean back into the cushion as he drives. I don't know how long we are on that road but eventually, M.C comes to a stop. I start unbuckling my seatbelt. "Is this it?"

Ghost pulls his beanie from where its resting over his face and looks outside before I can leave, he grabs my wrist, not hard but its so sudden that I jump. "Ghost?"

He looks me straight n the eyes"Were just gonna test your theory, were not doing anything dangerous today."

"Booo." M.C groans as he climbs out of the car, earning a glare from Ghost. He ignores it. "Whats even the point of coming then?"

"Yeah, don't be a fun sponge." I take his had and squeeze it. "We'll be fine."

As soon as I step out, I get a sinking feeling in my stomach that I just told a lie.

The place is desolate, nothing but run down empty apartments and bare land. Any other time, I would think this was a dead end.

But not today.

I recognize this place.
