It had been ten weeks since her wedding, their first night as man and wife and her husband had left for the war in the Stepstones.

After the third week, Alicent felt sick and emptied her stomach almost too regularly. Maester Geraldys happily assured the Princess' worries by telling her she was having a baby.

Alicent was brimming with glee when she wrote the letter informing Daemon of her pregnancy. She imagined her Targaryen prince proudly boasting about the little dragon in his wife's belly, that his marriage was more fruitful than Maegor's marriage to Ceryse Hightower. Alicent also sent word to Viserys and asked that Rhaenys regularly visit as the Queen Who Never Was had been good to her since her engagement to Daemon, something Viserys saw no problem with and celebrated and congratulated his brother in a letter.

'My Prince,
I write to inform you that our babe has not liked anything I've eaten since learning of their existence, as I have not stopped emptying my stomach. Maester Geraldys assured me that it was normal and meant the babe was healthy, and I pray to the Warrior and the goddess Vhagar to deliver a victory for you and to the Mother and the goddess Meleys for a safe birth of our child. When you have the time, I would like to discuss the babe's name, for we will need one soon.

With much love, Princess Alicent of the Houses Hightower and Targaryen, and the Babe.'

That letter was at least over seven moons old.

Daemon smiled. His child would be born soon, and the pair had not discussed a name for the little dragon yet.

He remembered when the first letter informing him of the babe's existence. Corlys was the first to congratulate him, and the news had Daemon killing almost ten thousand men with his sword alone.

Corlys had sent Alicent letters encouraging the excellent news about the babe, as it seemed to have given Daemon more motivation to kill the enemy and end the war sooner. Alicent was already sending letters informing her husband of their first child's progress. Still, if it helped bring Daemon home quicker, she'd do it, thinking of it as helping the Seven and Valyrian gods provide their miracles.

One night in 113 AC, Alicent woke up to the sharpest pain she ever felt. She felt a wet patch between her legs and threw her blanket to see her water had broken.

The baby was coming.

"Help me!" Alicent screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Princess, what is wrong?" A servant asked, running in to see her mistress in distress.

"The baby is coming. Get Princess Rhaenys and OW! Get Maester Geraldys. Hurry!" Alicent winced as she felt the pain starting.
Rhaenys rushed from her bed upon hearing Alicent's pleas for help from the servant. Maester Geraldys arrived minutes later.

"It's alright, Alicent. I'll stay with you." Rhaenys calmly soothed the younger mother.

Maester Geraldys examined Alicent and looked at her and Rhaenys. "I'll need to check if she's ready to push."

After being prodded, for what Alicent felt had lasted an entire century had ended, Maester Geraldys asked two septa to open the Hightower girl's legs.

"It's time to push, Princess."

Rhaenys held onto her hand as Alicent cried and screamed. She continuously pushed until she heard the loud wails of a baby and fell back onto the soft pillows behind her. Rhaenys looked from Alicent to the bundle in the Maester's arms.

"It's a boy, Princesses. Ten fingers and ten toes and a head of silver hair."

"Aegon," Alicent mumbled, a smile decorating her sweaty face.
