After two days of being in the Red Keep, Alicent stood at the window as Laenor helped a bleeding Rhaenyra carry 'their' third child.
Earlier, she had sent a servant to request Rhaenyra show her aunt the baby upon birth. She didn't wish to resort to Rhaenyra's tactics and held back the mention of her husband. Alicent's role as the Princess' aunt should provide some obligatory obedience, something Alicent had never used before, but Rhaenyra had never lied to her about anything, so there was a first time for everything.
"Rhaenyra! You should be resting after your labours." Alicent feigned shock upon seeing her niece.
"Talya, help Princess Rhaenyra sit down."
"Yes, my Princess." Her loyal lady, Talya, obeyed, helping Laenor lower Rhaenyra to sit on the loveseat in her and Daemon's bedchambers.
Viserys burst into the room along with Laena. "I heard the news! Let me see."
Laenor handed the bundle into Viserys arms, and he coped over the latest 'Velaryon' child. "He looks just like his father!"Alicent gave a fake smile as she watched her brother-in-law talk to his grandchild. "You're going to make a fine knight. Does the boy have a name?"
"Uh, we haven't decided."
"Joffrey. He'll be called Joffrey." Laenor interrupted his wife.
"That's an unusual name for a Velaryon. And one of two great Valyrian bloodlines." Alicent pointed out.
Viserys paid her comment no attention as he handed baby Joffrey back to Laenor, who approached Alicent to show her. To keep up the appearance, Alicent also cooed over the baby, smiling at the sleeping infant.
"Well done, my daughter," Viserys said.As they were about to leave, Alicent stopped Laenor and whispered. "Do keep trying, Ser Laenor. Sooner or later, there'll be one that actually looks like you."
Laenor stood still before walking and waiting outside for Viserys and Rhaenyra. Viserys exited and gave Laenor a pat on the back before heading off. At the same time, Rhaenyra shuffled, taking hold of Joffrey and arguing over naming her son, which Laenor argued was his son too.
In the Dragonpit, Princes Aegon and Aemond stood with Jacaerys and Lucerys as they were learning to master their dragon-taming. Aemond wanted to know so he'd be ready for when he claimed his dragon, while Daemon had Dreamfyre fly with Caraxes. Sunfyre and Tessarion stayed behind at the Dragonmount, with Vermithor and Silverwing, as Alicent remarked that if they couldn't bring just two dragons, the dragon riders of their family would have to go without their dragons. Hence, Daemon and Aegon picked their dragons to fly to King's Landing.
"Aemond, our cousins and I have arranged a little surprise for you."
"A surprise?"
"It's down there! You'll like it!" Lucerys, or 'Luke' as his mother called him, said excitedly as his older brother, Jacaerys or 'Jace', went down deep into the Dragonpit's underground tunnels.
"What is it?" Aemond asked.
Luke exclaimed. "It's a dragon for you! We lured it to the Dragonpit!"
"How?"
"The Gods provide," Aegon replied as Jace returned with a pig with a handmade dragon's tail and wings tied to the poor creature.
"Behold the Pink Dread!" Aegon, Luke and Jace all began laughing as Aemond inhaled sharply.
"Be careful when you mount her, brother. The first ride is always a bit rough." Aegon joked until Aemond pushed him and ran down into the underground tunnels.
