Trigger warnings: A Self Harm scene and some unwanted sexual advances, both of which can be avoided from 'Once he was done with his shower' to '"Feeling better buddy?"' & from 'He just rolled his eyes but then paused for a moment before asking,' to 'He wasn't going to get any sleep tonight.' also implied past non-con

and........ typical blood & violence with some extra angst for effect. ;P

"You fight like a Galra!" Zarkon sneered at him before rushing forward to attack again.

"He is not a true Galra." Kolivan snapped in Zarkon's direction.

"W-what?" Keith gasped, turning around to face Kolivan who simply stepped forward and shoved Keith to the side.

"Never send a half-breed to do a Galra's job." He said before taking his usual fighting stance.

"Very well," Zarkon replied and they began battling each other, leaving Keith to watch in horror.

A few weeks had passed since Keith had joined the blades. The paladins never got a chance to rest because the Blades brought new disturbing information.

"Zarkon isn't dead. But he seems to have been severely weakened. This is both good and bad news." Kolivan began Keith by his side, looking straight ahead and not making eye contact with anyone. "The good news is, this makes him easier to kill. The bad news is that he is protected by that witch who appears to have Zarkon's son take the throne temporarily."

"Zarkon has a son?" Allura gasped. "How did we not hear of this before?"

"It appears they have a difficult relationship. We don't know much about this 'Prince Lotor' It is very difficult to get our spies close to him."

"Why is that?" Pidge demanded. Kolivan didn't look affected by the outburst. "The prince is a half-breed, from his mother's side. therefore he has a very poor relationship with his father. He only trusts other half-breeds like himself and surrounds himself with them."

"Perhaps I could-" Keith began but Kolivan cut him off, shaking his head. "You are a vital part of Voltron. We cannot afford to send you on indefinitely long missions." Keith nodded in understanding not wanting to point out that without Red they cannot form Voltron anyways, knowing this would only trigger Lance and he was too exhausted to deal with another blowup.

"So what do we do now?" Hunk asked timidly.

"The Blades are working on gathering more information about this developing situation. I suggest you sit tight until we know more."

"We won't be kicking back and relaxing." Keith said, "We need to focus on finding Shiro."

"And Matt," Pidge added.

"And Matt." Keith agreed.

True to his word, he always rushed back in time for Voltron's missions. Sometimes he would fly straight into Black's mouth without bothering to change into his paladin armor. It was especially useful if any of their missions involved the blades, Keith would pop back and forth between the two teams, coordinating attacks and planning strategies. It didn't go unnoticed that he would put himself in all the most dangerous parts of the mission but nobody dared to say anything knowing how he would react. He hadn't had a non-mission-related conversation with the team since he left.

The one person who stayed silent the most is the one who had caused the most damage when he last spoke. At first, Lance stayed with Coran on the Castle ship watching the others battle small fleets of Glara without Lance and the Red Lion. But his insecurities were soon replaced with the frustration of not being able to help as he watched his team get hurt because they were outnumbered. It was this frustration that led him to hop into the old Altean battle craft Coran 'accidentally on purpose' revealed and join the lions against the Galra.
