Charles, Aunt Lacey, and I stood there quietly as the two noticed us, Ella still glued to the TV.

"Hey, friends!" Mark said, an empty glass in his hand and is words slurring together, "And Alyssa."

Alyssa sighed. Mark never really liked her, besides the one short time where he didn't hate her, but that ended quickly. Alyssa didn't know why Mark always hated her while he loved Sheena and Charles, but, frankly, she didn't really give a shit. She hated him back just as much, if not possibly more.

"Hello, Shitface Drunk Mark," Alyssa said with a slight smirk, "and Mom."

"Ally! Watch your mouth!" Elise said, the alcohol not affecting her nearly as much, most likely because she had a lot less. Elise turned to Mark and said, " I know you don't like her, but she is my child still, and you have to at least try!"

Mark rolled his eyes and muttered something that apparently only Elise could understand, because after he said it she kicked him pretty hard in the shin, marking him wince and bring his leg up to his chest as he muttered what was obviously a bunch of swear words.

"Thanks, Mom," Alyssa said, walking over to sit down on the couch with Charles following her while Aunt Lacey went to play with Ella.

"No problem, sweetheart. Mark is just an asshole," Elise said with a smile, making Mark frown and mutter something else, making Elise kick him twice as hard in the other shin and growl, "Shut up."

"Mother! Watch your mouth!" Alyssa said, jokingly mimicking Elise. Luckily, Alyssa didn't get kicked, just a slight chuckle and smile from Elise.

"Ally?" Mark said sarcastically, making all heads turn to him. I mean, all except Ella, who was now distracted by her toys.

"Yes, Marcus?" Alyssa said, matching his sarcastic tone.

"You wanna know why I hate you with all my heart?" He asked, an evil smirk on his face.

"Ya know what, I kinda do, " Alyssa answered, surprised he offered to give his reasoning.

Elise sat there, looking mortified. "Marcus LaRanda, non ti azzardare a cazzo..." Elise said, speaking in Italian, like she always did when she was angry with Mark.

Marcus put his hand over Elise's mouth, completely ignoring her, and said, "Because you're my mistake."
