The bang on the door made Alyssa jump and knock over Charles's orange juice, luckily not breaking the glass.
"What the hell?!" Elise yelled in surprise before walking to the door.
"What if it's a murderer? Or a rapist?!" Sheena whispered as Charles sighed and got up to grab napkins to clean the spill.
Charles rolled his eyes at Sheena's guesses. "That you for being so positive," he said sarcastically.
Alyssa sat there, ignoring the others and waiting for Elise to open the door. She heard it click open, followed by some murmurs she couldn't understand, the Footsteps. She braced herself, afraid of what was to come.
Elise walked in calmly, looking at the three teenagers. "You all look so uptight. Calm yourselves," she said Alyssa's dad, Jackson, walked in.
"Dad!" The three yelled and Alyssa and Sheena ran over to hug him. Since charles was the hugging kind of person, he smiled and waved.
Now, let this be understood. Jackson is not any of the three teenagers' real dad. Hell, they all look nothing like him or each other, expect for a few things that match Elise, too. They act so close to Jackson because he and Elise had been married a little while after Charles was born and supported them for a long time, even after the divorce. He was rich and powerful, and he knew it. The divorce had a bad ending, which Elise would never explain to the three teenagers, as she didn't want them to turn against their only father figure. Thought she hated him and the situation, she allowed him to come take them for a week every month, as long as they attend school all but one day of the week.
Back to the story.
After the girls finished hugging him, Elise sighed and said, "You could give a warning before you drop in and take them."
Jackson just laughed and shook his head. "See, kids? This is why you should be single, like me! You don't have to be nagged about warning and being on time!" This remark made Elise obviously want to hurt him, but have didn't.
"Are we going to the mansion or the incorporation?!" Alyssa asked excitedly.
"Sorry, kiddo, but in actually not here to pick you guys up!" Jackson said with a smile, Alyssa's spirit falling immensely. It's not that she didn't like the small, cozy house they had and she knew Elise tried her hardest to give them the best she could, but there's only so much you can do on child support and a teachers salary, even with a little more from Jackson, but Alyssa knew everyone wanted a lavish lifestyle like Jackson, and she could get it whenever she felt like it.
"Then why are you here?" Charles asked, showing the same confusion as everyone else.
"To tell you I'm going to the Bahamas to film for a few months so I won't be able to take care of you for a while." He said and looked around, obviously awkward. "Well, I really think I should go. Sorry to get your hopes up. Bye, kiddos!" He said and rushed out of the dinning room, down the hall, and out the front door, slamming it behind him.
They knew he'd be gone for more than a few months, and Elise needed to find a way to make enough money to feed them all for that long.
'This'll be fun,' Alyssa thought sarcastically and sighed in exasperation, mentally preparing for the many months ahead of them.
