Chapter Six

Ricky sat on the couch of his dorm, phone up to his ear, on a call with his mother. His mother had been pestering him all day to get her an engagement ring. To show that they were legitimate.

"But I don't know her ring size" he tried to use that as an excuse.

"Then ask her," his mom told him. "Or just bring her with you to buy one. Don't let her buy it with her own money, I'm going to watch your credit card to make sure that you actually bought it for her."

"Alright, I'll go with her later today" he finally gave in. Hearing him say that finally satisfied Mrs. Shen.

"I'll talk to you later then," his mom said. "I love you, stay safe!"

"Love you too," he hung up the phone afterwards. He stood up from the couch, letting out a sigh. He walked around his dorm looking for a thin jacket to wear. He opened up his contacts app as he walked around, looking for a specific name. The phone was ringing, and ringing, and ringing.

"Why isn't she picking him?" he said out loud.

He opened up Messages instead to tell her to pick up her phone.

Ricky called her another time, finding his jacket when the phone started to ring. This time Eunjin actually picked up the phone. She answered his call sounding groggy.

"Hello?" she sounded like she just woke up.

"Did you just wake up?" he asked her, noticing how her voice was.

"Yes," she cleared her throat to return to a normal speaking state. "I sleep really late."

"But you wake up at 13:00? How did you wake up for school when you were younger?"

"My sleeping habits got worse over the years," she explained. "I used to sleep a lot earlier. Now get to the point. Why did you call me?"

"I can't just call you to speak to you?"

"Yes, you can't actually."

Ricky scoffed at the girl. "But anyway, I'm coming over to your dorm to pick you up in half an hour."

"Why?" she panicked when he said that. Did he even know where her dorm was? "Do you even know where it is?"

"Yes, yes, I do" he told her.

Eunjin panicked again for another moment. She never told Ricky her dorm number or address. Was he stalking her?

"I'm not stalking you by the way!" Ricky quickly added, realizing that she doesn't know that he had her address. "Your mom gave it to me."

"Alright..." Eunjin didn't understand why her mom decided to give Ricky her dorm address. If he needed it for anything he could've just asked her directly.

"Okay, see you soon" Ricky hung up the call. He grabbed his keys and opened the door of the dorm.

"Where are you going?" Ricky's roommate, Zhang Hao, asked him in Chinese. Ricky was glad that Zhang Hao was from China like him. It made communication easier for both of them.
