Mitch: morning.

Tim: morning. How are you feeling about high school?

Mitch: I'm ready for the first week to be over.

Tim: Really? That nervous?

Mitch: Nervous for the bus ride to school. For first period. For finding a place to sit at lunch. For football tryouts.

Tim: What could happen on the bus ride to school?

Mitch: I don't know. I might sit in the coolest senior's seat.

Tim: The coolest senior probably isn't taking the bus. What's your fear about first period?

Mitch: Where's the cool place to sit?

Tim: and let me guess the same thing for lunch?

Mitch: yup

Tim: Aren't you going to the high school your middle school feeds into?

Mitch: Yes. But I was a bad friend and didn't message anyone this summer. A few of my friends are going to different high schools, another one is moving. And two are going to boarding school. Boarding school!

Tim: I'm sure no one is mad about you not texting over the summer. You'll make new friends. And you're going to make jv football. You led our team to back-to-back championships.

Mitch: I'm sure you'll make jv baseball. You're a great pitcher.

Tim: thanks babe. I take it you've calmed down.

Mitch: yup

Tim: so what did your mom make for breakfast?

Mitch swoons because he called him babe and remembered his mom stays home the first day of school.

Mitch: I made jv.

Tim: Congrats, Mitch

Mitch: Thanks. How was the first week of school?

Tim: Good. Whitney and I have multiple classes together. I've made a couple friends. How about you?

Mitch: A couple guys from the team invited me to a back to school party.

Tim: If you go, promise not to drink.

Mitch: I promise. I won't drink until I'm at least 21. Might wait after that.

Tim: I might try a beer when I'm 16. But I won't drink and drive.

Tim knows that's a sore topic because of Mitch's dad.

Mitch: Glad to know. Got any plans for the weekend?

Tim: Sleepover at Whitney's. You doing anything besides the party?

Mitch: Why have you decided I am going to the party?

Tim: Because you're a people pleaser. Especially when it comes to your team.

Mitch: Whatever. Your dad still let's you go to co-ed sleepovers?

Tim: As if he cares.

Mitch: Her parents let her throw co-ed sleepovers?

Tim: Her parents are so chill. Why? Are you jealous?

Mitch: No.

Tim: Hmm.

Mitch: Whatever. I just wish we could have sleepovers.
