The best gift Chaeyoung ever got, besides her engagement ring, was the one thing that made her fall in love with Jisoo. A CD, it was simple- but it was what was inside that made her happy.
You see, summer break had approached this year again. Chaeyoung's family planned to spend the summer with family in Australia, causing Chaeyoung's summer to be away from friends. It also didn't help that she would be miles away from her best friend.
Unfortunately for her, Jisoo was going to be spending her summer in some kind of summer camp. The brunette wasn't thrilled but was going to be sharing her experience with Jennie and Lisa.
Chaeyoung lays on her bed listening to the frustrated ranting from her friend, she watched as Jisoo walked back and forth with an irritated look.
"It's stupid! This better not be like that stupid movie you showed me!" Jisoo complained.
"You mean camp rock?" Chaeyoung asked, "What's so wrong about that?"
"If we sing I swear- Someone is gonna die," Jisoo says nonchalantly.
"Oh come on, It might just be fun!" Chaeyoung smiles, "You get to be outside!"
"Cold, sharing a tent, and poorly made food? No thanks." Jisoo sat on the floor, "at least you'll be in a house."
"Well, I doubt that. I'm pretty sure my mom wants us to do stuff." Chaeyoung shrugged, "maybe going to a zoo?"
"To see kangaroos?" Jisoo asked.
"Australia isn't just filled with Kangaroos, Chu. It's filled with many kinds of them!"
"Woah!"
"Plus I'll still call you in camp, somebody has to make sure you don't kill Lisa." Chaeyoung chuckled, "Besides, I'll pick up whenever you call."
"You would do that?"
"Who else would hear my late-night thoughts?"
"It's sure going to be different without you being here." Jisoo frowns causing the girl to sit up.
"I know, but it's only for the summer. Time will fly by." Chaeyoung tried to be positive, even if that meant lying to her friend.
"You're right."
The two spent the rest of the night together helping Chaeyoung pack up, Jisoo was a bit heartbroken that the girl would leave first but had to accept it. She watched as Chaeyoung was talking about packing up many things, many planned outfits, and many shoes. Chaeyoung liked planning and packing late, it was just her.
When the time came for sleep, Jisoo couldn't shut her eyes.
Her mind was still awake as her body was relaxed in the bed, she looked at the sleeping girl beside her before slowly leaving the bed. She replaced her spot with a pillow since Chaeyoung's arm was around her, the brunette fell to the ground and waited for the girl to wake up.
Nothing. Just a snore.
Jisoo walked over carefully towards her bag pulling out a blank CD, she quickly turns around keeping watch for the other to wake. She walks over to Chaeyoung's desk and gently lifted the laptop off, Jisoo quickly leaves the room and slightly closes the door.
The brunette knew the family were all asleep, she could hear Mr. Park's snoring. She quietly walked down the stairs and into the living room, where she sat on the couch and logged into the girl's computer.
The password? It was Jisoo's birthday.
Chaeyoung thought it would be good to have each other's birthdays as passwords, maybe it was a test but Jisoo always succeeded.
The next day came shortly which made Chaeyoung not want to leave, she had breakfast with her friends for one last time until she had to leave. She watched as Lisa snorted orange juice out of a straw and Jisoo intimated Jennie's onion-cutting skills. She loved her friend, gosh, would she miss them for a month.
Her thoughts fade hearing Lisa cough as if she was dying, she watches Jennie throw a piece of bread at Jisoo. A smile tugged the corner of her lips seeing Jisoo's offended expression, will she miss them dearly?
"Girls, we'll be leaving shortly!" Mr. Park announced still packing up the car.
"Are you excited, Chaeyoung?" Jennie asks, "You'll go back home."
"I am, but here is my home." The girl smiles, "are you guys excited for camp?"
"Yes! I hear it's a Christian camp!" Lisa perks up, "I'm not Christian, but It'll be interesting!"
"They better have Wifi." Jennie says, "If not, I'll make my own."
"Too bad you couldn't join" Lisa frowns.
"No, I'm glad. I don't want to see Jisoo trying to kill you or Jennie Unnie getting cranky." Chaeyoung says pushing the avocado pieces on Jisoo's plate.
"Girls! It's time!" Mr. Park called out.
The four frowned at each other before leaving the table, Mrs. Park grabbing their plates and cleaning them off. They walked outside seeing the car was now packed and ready to go, Mr. Park smiled brightly as Chaeyoung frowns at him.
"I'll go get Alice, say your goodbyes." He ran inside leaving the four outside.
"So..."
"You're leaving now." Jisoo looks up at her, "have a nice flight, I guess?"
Jisoo wasn't very keen on saying goodbyes, she wasn't the type to express that kind of feeling.
"Group hug?" Lisa suggested.
Chaeyoung spreads her arms out causing her friends to rush in and hug her, it almost felt like she was leaving for good. Chaeyoung was going to miss them.
"Make sure to call, Park." Jennie threatens.
"I will, Unnie." Chaeyoung smiles.
"Roseanne! We're leaving now!" Mrs. Park announced.
"I'll see you three soon!" Chaeyoung cheerfully says before breaking out of the hug, she walked over to her family before giving her friends one last glance.
"Check your laptop!" Jisoo yelled before Lisa and Jennie dragged her away.
Chaeyoung nods before going into the car.
It was a simple gift, it was just a CD. But why it was important, was Jisoo putting her favorite songs into one little disk.
A little disk that made Chaeyoung feel butterflies in her stomach, was something the girl cherished.
