I was rudely woken up by the bright sunlight shining through my window. I threw the blanket over my head with a groan as Dad spoke.

"Morning, sleepy head! Get up. You gotta go to school, and I gotta go to work." He said as he walked away from my window and out my bedroom door, closing it on the way out. I let out a sigh as I threw the blanket off of myself and sat up. I rubbed my eyes and ran my hands through my hair, flipping part of it to the right. I climbed out of bed and went over to my window to close the curtains.

I walked over to my dresser, and I grabbed my phone to check to see what the weather was like, so I made a good choice on what to wear today. I blew air out of my mouth as I began to dig through my drawers.

I picked out my grey Bon Jovi shirt, and a red, long sleeve shirt to put under it. I grabbed some semi-ripped jeans and one red converse and one black converse. I like to do this with them because I find it cool and fun. I also grabbed some miscellaneous pieces of jewelry.

I wandered into my bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror, looking at my hair. It's long, straight, and brown with red highlights. Dad let me get them last week since I got all A's on my report card... or so he thinks. I went into his office and made a copy of the card, changed some letters, and printed it out, before running it down the driveway to the mailbox.

I sprayed my hair with water before spraying it with some detangler as well. I brushed it out and let it air dry as I grabbed my backpack off the floor and my phone off the dresser then went downstairs to join Dad for breakfast.

"You sure you don't want a jacket, Lilah?" He asked as I entered. He was leaning back against the counter waiting for the toast to pop. "One, I got two layers on and I'll be inside all day. Two, you know I don't like it when you or anybody for that matter calls me Lilah." I replied. "Right, sorry, but still at least take a jacket just incase." "I'll grab one on the way out, alright?" I responded, slightly irritated. "Alright." He said as the toast popped.

"You know," He started speaking as he turned around to plate the food. "I thought I was gonna have to go up there and start singing." Dad does this thing where if I don't get out of bed quick enough, he comes back and starts singing, "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR. He's not very good at singing, so I assume that's why he does that.

But thank God he has other talents, like working at a hospital. He's a nurse so he works odd hours every day. Sometimes I get to spend the night at my friend Evan Morrow's house since he lives right across the street. Another friend of ours, Nick Ganz, lives next to Evan on the left. They're pretty cool.

Evan plays hockey for the Mighty Ducks. I always wanted to play for them, but didn't make the team because I was "too aggressive" but if you look at them, that's all they're about. Nick has a podcast with a girl named MJ. I don't listen to it because podcasts aren't my thing, but I assume it's cool. Nick and I became friends in 4th grade when I had no one to sit with at lunch.

I became friends with Evan in 6th grade when he saw my New Jersey Devils hockey Jersey I wore one day to school. I didn't know him and Nick were already friends, but we've been a trio ever since. Evan's mom, Alex, is pretty cool too.

Since I've introduced them, I may as well introduce myself. I'm Delilah Axel Blaze Parker. I was born in New Jersey to Nicole Parker, whom passed away due to circumstances I'm unsure of since Dad won't tell me. I guess I should also say that Dad AKA Shawn, isn't my real father. He knew my mom and adopted me since they were close. My real dad was nowhere to be found when I was born.

"Alright, Del," He sat the plate down on the table as I sat down. "Breakfast is served." "Thanks." I mumbled, beginning to pick at it. "I work a from a twelve hour shift today so I asked Alex if you could stay over and she said yeah, so you'll be riding home with Evan today." Dad told me as he buttered his toast. "Okay, when I'm done eating, I'll pack."
