When the horn blared, I went to grab my pillow to cover my head, but when I opened my eyes slightly, I wasn't in my room. I sat up quickly and looked over my shoulder at Jace who was slowly waking up.

I cursed under my breath as I untangled myself from the blanket. Jace sat up and looked at me before realizing why I was in a panic and getting out of bed himself.

"I should've woke you last night- I- I'm sorry, Delilah." He stuttered, half awake.

"It's fine, it's fine, just uh, don't mention or tell this to anyone." I said as I went to the door. "God, you're so lucky you have your own room or else we'd both be dead and buried right now." I told him before I left.

I snuck across the hall and prayed Sofi and Maya had fallen back asleep so they wouldn't see me sneak back in. Yet, when I came in, they were both sitting on the edges of their beds, rubbing the sleep from their eyes, and stretching.

"Where were you? First, Nick goes missing, now you!" Maya exclaimed as she stood up and walked towards me. "Look, it was a mistake. I was hanging out with Jace and I must've fell asleep- but if anyone asks, just say I went for a walk and lost track of time last night." I rambled.

"Why were you hanging out with Jace?" Sofi asked. "Well, uh..." I didn't wanna tell them the truth, so I came up with a quick lie. "The draft got a little boring so we went back to his dorm and hung out." I answered. "Just hung out?" Maya questioned. "Okay, maybe I kissed him, but it-" "You kissed him?" She exclaimed. "Wait, if you guys kissed... that means," Maya gasped. "You're dating Jace!" She shouted, excitedly.

"I wouldn't exactly call it that." I said. "Did he ask you to be his girlfriend? What was the confession like?" She asked. "He just told me he liked me and I said I liked him too." "So, he didn't exactly ask you to be his girlfriend?" "Look, can we move past this? Just for the morning at least?" "Fine, fine, but I want details." "Whatever." I murmured as I grabbed new clothes.

We all sat at a table in the cafeteria wearing Mighty Duck themed clothing. I sat next to Jace, who was using a Mighty Duck hoodie as a neck rest. "How do they already have an elaborate handshake? They've been a team for like eight hours." Maya stated. Evan was drafted to Cole's team last night.

I had the hood of my jacket up and was looking down at my lap. I took some Advil this morning for my headache, but it hasn't kicked in yet. Jace nudged my leg with his foot. I looked over at him as he gestured with his head to the team, I followed his gaze and listened to their conversation.

"I know why we were all drafted from the bottom, but what's your story?" Sam asked our new teammates. "Scared boy," I said, nodding my head towards the kid. "What's your story?"

"I just suck next to my older brother. He's here, too. The one over there with the biceps only God could carve." He answered, pointing to AJ.

"I think we're all familiar with Incredible Hulk over there. The one bro-ing out with my best friend." Nick said before Koob spoke up.

"Wow. He's never mentioned you." "Yeah, that sounds about right. He's kinda the- uh- main course in our family, and I'm basically just the side dish. That's how I got my nickname, Fries! Which doesn't hurt my feelings." "Hmm. Side of fries. Damn, that's cold." Maya said.

"I've noticed the beautiful brother." The new girl responded. "Me, I do not have a brother. It's just me! Gertie from Moose Lick, Alaska, in the county of Fishhook, where I am the best youth hockey player around. I think. Hard to know. I rarely play with other kids, which is why some say I have a few glaring weaknesses. But when it's just Me V. Me, gosh, I'm good! I've got moves you've never seen." She rambled.
