I woke up this morning with a smile on my face as the memories from yesterday flooded my mind. We won The Duck's name, Dad finally got to see a game, and Logan and I are officially together. I still thought about what Bombay and Dad were talking about and wondered how they knew each other.
I climbed outta bed and went downstairs and found Dad and Logan in the kitchen together. I scrunched my eyebrows at the scene.
"Morning, Mighty Duck." Dad greeted with a smile before he took a sip of coffee from his mug.
"Hey." I replied, still confused. "Why are you here?" I asked.
"Oh, hi, Lilah. I wanted to come make you breakfast." Logan answered. Dad raised an eyebrow at me as I recalled our conversation from the car and how I told him about Logan making pancakes. "I appreciate that, but I don't usually eat in the morning." I replied. "Last time I made you pancakes, you ate them. No shame in doing it again."
"Oh, there's some random magazines that came in the mail that I thought you'd like to take a look at." Dad said, pointing to the table. "Thanks." I walked over and sat down, flipping through the pages, seeing if there was anything I could cut out and put on the walls in my room.
I got to a page about Victoria Secret having some sort of sale. I couldn't help but stare and zone out at the pictures. Their skin was like glass. Their bodies were carved so beautifully like they were made of marble, and their hair was so shiny and smooth.
I closed it and stood up. "I'll be right back. I gotta go find some scissors to cut this stuff out so I can decorate my room." I left the kitchen quickly and went up the stairs to my room.
I cut out the models from the magazine and stuck their photos to my full-length mirror on the wall.
"So, what's your intentions with Delilah?" I heard Dad abruptly ask Logan. "To treat her with respect, kindness, and love." He answered quickly like he was prepared to be asked that question. "That's very good, kid."
🏒
After breakfast, Dad went to work, and Logan and I sat on the couch, searching for a movie to watch. I let out a sigh as I couldn't find anything. "Wanna go get ice cream?" He asked. "It's like ten in the morning. What ice cream place would be open?" I responded. "Dairy Queen?" "I doubt it, but we can try." "Yes!" He said as he stood up and headed for the door.
"Hold on, rookie. I gotta change. I'm not going out in my pajamas." I said, heading for the stairs. "Right. Well, I'll wait here." "Alright." As I entered my room, my eyes landed right on the photos I had taped to the mirror.
🏒
After we left the ice cream shop, we went to a small corner store and bought some snacks and candy. "Wanna have that movie date I promised you?" I asked. "I don't think you promised that, but sure." Logan answered.
We wandered around the store for a little while longer before walking back to my house. Logan went straight to the backyard through the gate, and I went inside to gather the projector and a white sheet as well as a blanket to lay on.
I had to rummage around Dad's office. It was more of a weird library with a desk in the corner and a laptop along with miscellaneous things near it. I found the projector hiding in a box that was in one of the cubes of the black shelf.
Then I went into the spare bedroom and grabbed a white sheet from the closet. I went down the stairs and went outside where Logan was. He had sat the items on the table and was looking down at his phone.
"Oh, hey," He said, putting it away. "Got everything?" "Just what I needed from inside. The rest is in the shed." I sat the items on the table and walked over to the shed. I had to pull the door open harshly because it always jammed. I retrieved the canopy along with its walls so it was fully dark like a movie theater.
