Mobile Command Unit...
"Sir! Sir!" Hondo called desperately, through the radio.
Hicks couldn't believe it! Finally! It had been past 20 minutes since they had had any form of communication with any of the officers aboard the helicopters. Everyone inside of the trailer moved quickly, all facing the monitors and sound panel.
"Hondo! Come in! What happened?" the commanding officer responded, leaning forward.
"Sir, our signal was blocked from all communication to base. We think some sort of bug was implanted in the system here that blocked all satellite functions!"
"Is everyone alright?" Commander Hicks heard his counter part from the task force ask his leader.
"No, sir." Hanson responded, drawing Hicks' attention immediately. "Unfortunately, one SWAT officer fell after a missile almost impacted our carrier. I sent Lee in the chopper down to base. The helicopter was caught in the gun fire, so it's best if it's not used until checked. Please activate an ambulance and an escort right away."
GASP
Hicks sighed and shifted his focus to the conversation next to him. He heard the explanation then quickly dialed, "Hondo, who is down? Who was rushed to the hospital?"
Please don't let it be Deacon! Guy has had enough already! Hicks pleaded in his mind. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath while the answer came in.
"Cabrera, sir!" Hondo responded.
Exhale.
"She hit her head as she fell from the chopper. We didn't know we were being targeted, sir."
Now it was Owens who eavesdropped on the conversation. The commanding officer took a strong step forward, while everyone stared at the dozens of monitors.
"Stop!" he signaled to the rest. He then turned and nodded to Hicks, "May I?"
"Yes, sir" Hicks responded.
"Sergeant Hanson" Owens called, "Is Sergeant Hondo closeby?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Then, let's not double up the information. Time is of the essence here. Give us the run down!"
"Very well." Hanson responded. "We found two teenagers in the roof. They proceeded to engage with the attackers-"
"Wait! Teenagers?" Owens interrupted surprised.
Hicks tilted his head back, then closed his eyes momentarily.
"The kids from the school?" Hicks asked.
"Yes, sir." Hanson responded.
"The ones from the basketball court some months ago?" Hicks asked.
"Two of them, sir." Hondo responded. "Street's kid and the leader of the group, kid they call Marv."
"The one that swung off the side of a building to rescue Deacon's kid?" Hicks asked.
"Yes, sir." he responded.
"Ok." Owens said, while the rest of the audience listened closely. "So, what happened with the kids?"
"They found out" Hanson continued, "that the perps planned to ambush us as we approached in the helicopter. The suspects lined up missile shots headed towards us, but the boys went after them with a water hose. One of the perps was able to get one shot off, but missed our chopper. Unfortunately, Tan and Cabrera had already started to descend. When she tried to dodge the projectile, she lost handle of the rope and fell hard. Lee got her on a neck brace and she's on her way to you."
