An hour later, Kay's home....
"Matthew!" Deacon called from the kitchen.
Ugh! Here we go again, thought the annoyed teen. Matthew just wanted to be left alone. No trouble, no fuss. Just him, his laptop and cellphone. Why was that so hard to understand for his parents?
He sat up in bed, "Yeah?" he responded innocently.
"Come to the kitchen, son." his father responded sternly.
Matthew rolled his eyes and let out a long sigh. He set his laptop down on his desk, straightened up and walked to the kitchen slowly.
"Yes, sir?"
"Honey, you don't have to call your father like that here. This isn't SWAT!" his mother responded, approaching him.
He quietly nodded his head. She grabbed his arm gently and said, "We need to talk"
When mother and sun took a seat by the counter of the kitchen, Deacon approached them slowly.
"Police called again. I heard." Matthew said staring at Deacon, who kept an angry frown.
"Yes, they did. Matthew" the older officer called annoyed, "Didn't we say not to talk to the police?"
"I didn't!" he responded immediately.
"They say you did. Alex just called." Deacon added annoyed. "A contact of mine told me LAPD got an anonymous tip and are investigating as we speak. He told me they will be giving an update in the morning news about the investigation, including any new arrests." he paused.
GASP
Matthew couldn't believe it! As if his day couldn't get any worse.
"We will get ready for any questions or allegations they have!" Annie said confidently, placing both hands on the teens shoulder.
"We believe you are innocent, Matthew! And we will not allow the police to accuse you of any crime!" Deacon said with a frown.
Both worried parents stared at the teen, as a deep silence invaded the kitchen on this chilly dark night.
What could he do? Was this the right moment to speak up about what happened in school? No! No! He had to prove he was a man. He had to deal with it himself! No running to mommy or daddy! No!
An hour later...
"Guys!" Kelly called out, among the chatter, "we have a really bad problem!"
Rubio, Chen, Matthew and Leyla immediately went quiet. There was a deep silence in all ends of the line.
"What happened?" Matthew and Rubio asked curiously.
"Yeah, what's up?" Leyla and Chen asked simultaneously.
"It's Marv! He just...disappeared!" Kelly responded frustrated.
"What are you talking about? He didn't go to school today?" Matthew asked confused.
"I didn't see him on my way to Art Appreciation class... which is weird." Leyla reported.
"He wasn't around during lunch!" Chen said.
"I didn't see him when the team was in the gym." Rubio reported.
"Guys, hello?" Kelly called out again, this time annoyed, "He skipped school!"
