"Y/N, are you seriously going out on another expedition? You don't need to keep searching for that archon, you know. There haven't been any records of her for centuries." Heizou watched her through sleep-addled eyes.

As she finally tied her hair up, she smiled back at Heizou. "It'll be no different from the trips you typically have to go on for the Tenryou Commission. As soon as I return home, we can go on vacation, alright?"

"Okay..." He whined, standing up from the bed and wrapping his arms around her from behind. "Or, you can stay with me. And... we can goof off..."

"You literally just woke up, and you're already in the mood to goof off?" Y/N looked into the mirror, seeing Heizou rest his chin on your shoulder and begin peppering kisses playfully on you. "Hey~!"

"I'll miss you. Come back soon, okay?"

"I'll always come back to you, Heizou."

--

"Y/N, behind you!" Venti shouted, the tips of his braids glowing as he desperately tried to fend off the innumerable amount of abyss creatures.

As Y/N looked behind her, she hopped up into the air and used an abyss mage's shield as a boost. Diving down with your sword, she crashed to the floor and knocked each creature away. "Thanks, Venti!"

"I knew an anemo vision would suit you! Your parents were always such dumbasses!" He launched himself into the air using an air current, skillfully shooting arrows down at each monster as he fell.

Watching each monster disintegrate, she sighed in relief. "Where are those documents..."

Opening each drawer frantically, Y/N searched through endless of piles of papers.

Until she found it.

The God of Wind and Time.

Bingo. "Venti, I have it!"

Silence. Utter silence.

"... Venti?..."

A sharp pain in her back. Looking down at herself, she saw the front of a jagged spear in her torso.

That blood dripping onto the floor belonged to her.

Coughing uncontrollably, Y/N struggled to get the spear out of her, before she felt it being plunged into her even farther. Blood splattered onto the wooden tiles as she desperately cried out for someone. Anyone.

"Heizou..." Y/N cried meekly.

"I'll always come back to you."

Heizou stared blankly at her burial site.

She'd been reported missing for two years before officers found the remains of a body that looked identical to her.

Holding a paper in her hand.

"Why, Y/N? You promised. You promised me." Tears began to spill down from his eyes as he focused on the spot where the remains of her were buried. "You promised me you'd come back. Why aren't you back?"

"Why are you dead?" He whispered.

"I'm sorry, Y/N." Barbatos sighed, his usually playful tone being replaced with a serious one.

"Huh? What are you apologizing for?" She cocked her head to the side, looking at him confused.

Heizou was trying his hardest to connect the dots.

But he couldn't.

No matter what he did, he couldn't find the connection between the woman in the image and Y/N.

Kusanali placed a hand on the anemo archon's back. "Barbatos, don't explain it to them. It'll completely shatter their world view."

"I saved this."

Y/N watched Barbatos reach into his bag, and pull out a...

Wait a minute.

That's a vision. An anemo vision.

Attached to some sort of old belt? "Please, try activating it."

"Barbatos." Kusanali warned.

But his grief and guilt overpowered his logical thinking as he handed the belt to Y/N.

Y/N stared at the dimmed vision in awe, the one bright anemo symbol a grey color. "Was this someone else's vision?"

The two of them were silent, exchanging looks before nodding.

"Yes. Someone very dear to me and my friend."

Heizou tried.

Throwing his vision to the floor, stomping on it, burning it.

Nothing worked.

"Dammit, you piece of shit!" He threw the vision with all his strength at the wall, a loud thud resonating in the empty home. "I will never, ever forgive you Barbatos. For as long as I live."

Y/N clipped the belt to the best of her ability to her waist. "This looks similar to that woman in the photo. Is this hers?"

"Yes. Yes it is." Kusanali nodded.

Below her, the vision swirled to life, a green hue illuminating it. A white anemo symbol adorned the vision, as e/c eyes stared down at it in awe. "Anemo? Does that mean I can...?" She stared down at her fingertips, energy sparking through them.

It feels like my veins are on fire! Y/N couldn't name the feelings she felt at that moment. As if a rage she'd never felt was bubbling up to the surface, one that must've been centuries old.

Before she could react, a gust of wind surged from her, narrowly missing Heizou.

"Damn! That was sick!" A smile formed on his lips, fixing his hair after the burst of wind. "Does this mean you have ancient powers, or something?"

Y/N could still feel the rage within her. "Whoever had this vision before, she must've had some sort of unresolved rage. I can feel it." Like a pot boiling over...

Barbatos looked away, as if he was ashamed. "Yes. I'm glad you were able to awaken it, Y/N. Keep it safe."

Kusanali and Barbatos left the room, leaving Heizou and Y/N alone. "This is incredible. You have a vision, Y/N!"

But, Y/N didn't smile. She was too busy focusing on the rage that was manifesting within her. "I want this off of me. It hurts."

Green eyes widened, before he rushed to take the belt off of her. Unbuckling the clasp, he took it in his hands and studied it. Elaborate patterns decorated it, reminiscent of ancient Inazuma. "Are you alright? I can't have you getting hurt too much."

"Yeah. It's just that..." She struggled to find the words to describe the anger that she just felt. "... whoever had that vision before went out in a bad way. They want vengeance."

Heizou stared at the vision. It feels so familiar... Running his fingers over the material, he clenched it in his hands.

"It feels so familiar, as if I've seen it before. I hate it. I can feel it too. The rage." Heizou set it on the stand next to the bed, laughing it off. "Must've been quite the angry woman."

"We should focus on figuring this case out. Once and for all." Y/N spoke.

The red-head cleared his throat. "Alrighty. Let's review."
