Rose was outside on the ground. She was unconscious and she was lying on her side as the rain was falling upon her. Her patterned dress was soaking wet and she was becoming dangerously cold.

Thomas Barrow came outside for a smoke, and after a few minutes under the shelter he saw a figure lying on the ground.
"Hello? Are you alright?" Thomas asked, but Lady Rose didn't move. "Are you drunk or something?" Thomas asked as he came towards her. "My lady," He said as he realised who it was.

Thomas knelt down and placed his hand onto Lady Rose's side.
"My Lady, it's Mr Barrow, can you hear me?" He asked. A moment of silence passed, so Thomas threw away his cigarette, took Lady Rose into his arms and carried her inside.

"Thomas. Oh my goodness, what's happened?" Anna asked as Thomas passed her on his way upstairs.
"I found Lady Rose outside. She's soaking wet, cold and unconscious."
"Take her upstairs, I will call for Doctor Clarkson."
"Thank you," Thomas said as he went up the stairs. "Lord Grantham! Lady Grantham!"
"Thomas? What is it?"
"It's Lady Rose my Lord," Thomas called as he carried her into the library and the family went into the room in worry.
"Oh my goodness, Barrow what happened to her?" Lord Grantham asked as he came over and Thomas was lying Lady Rose onto the sofa.
"I found her outside my Lord. She was on the ground and she hasn't woken my Lord."
"Get more wood for the fire and find some blankets."
"Yes my Lord. Anna is calling for Doctor Clarkson."
"Very good. Rose, can you hear me?" Lord Grantham asked as he knelt beside her. "Rose?"
"What happened to her?"
"I don't want to imagine."
"She is freezing papa. I will help Thomas to gather some blankets."
"I will fetch some towels, we need to dry her off."
"Of course," Lord Grantham said and Cora and Mary both left.

They returned shortly with blankets and Thomas stoked the fire.
"We have to removed her dress my Lord," Anna said as she came in.
"What?"
"If she is cold, the wet clothes will only make her colder."
"Very well. Barrow, come out," Lord Grantham said and they both left the room. Anna and Mary removed Rose's dress, and then they wrapped her up with many blankets.
"Is she going to be alright Anna?"
"Doctor Clarkson will be here shortly. She is really cold my Lady, and there is a bruise on her head."
"A bruise?"
"She may have it on the ground if she had fallen."
"Oh my dear Rose," Cora said and the doorbell went.
That will be Doctor Clarkson," Mary said and she went out of the room as Thomas brought him into hallway.

"Hmn..."
"Lady Rose, can you hear me?"
"Where am I? What's going on?"
"You're in the library. You were found outside in the rain and you were brought in here."
"Why am I so cold?"
"You are suffering from hypothermia. You will warm up slowly."
"Are you the doctor?"
"I am."
"Thank you. Who found me?"
"Mr Barrow did my Lady," Anna told her.
"Dear Mr Barrow."
"Try and get some rest. Anna is going to stay with you in here."
"Why not my room?"
"We don't want to move you yet my Lady."
"Am I...?" Anna asked with a question. "Am I naked under here?"
"You are my Lady. Your body heat will warm you, and keeping your cold clothes on would have only made you colder."
"I see."
"It was a very good call Anna. A few minutes more, and we may not have been able to save Lady Rose."
"It was Thomas really, thank God he smokes."
"Indeed," Doctor Clarkson said. "I will stay for a few more hours for observation purposes. But first I will see Mrs Patmore for some food."
"I can do that."
"No, it's alright. Stay with Lady Rose Anna, I will be back shortly."
"I will," Anna said and he left them.

"Thomas."
"Doctor Clarkson," Thomas said as they met downstairs.
"I want to say well done for finding Lady Rose. A short time longer and she would have been too cold to save."
"I am glad that she is alright doctor. Thank you."
"You did very well."
"Doctor Clarkson. Is Rose alright?" Shrimpy asked as he arrived and he rushed in.
"He came through the back door Doctor Clarkson."
"It's alright. She is recovering with Anna upstairs. She is still quite cold, so I am going to stay with her for the next few hours. She will make a full recovery."
"Thank goodness."
"If you would follow me," Doctor Clarkson said and he led Shrimpy upstairs.
