There was clattering and jolted that woke Tom up.
"Daisy. What are you doing in here?" Tom asked as he stood up and put his dressing gown on. "You should not be here."
"I'm sorry sir. I am but..."
"There is no excuse. You need to leave," Tom said and he went over to Daisy, who was by the door and she was holding it open. "If you do not, I will tell Mrs Hughes."
"But my Lady, I need to..."
"Daisy?" Branson asked and Daisy fell, he was quick to catch her. "What's the matter?"
"My head's muddled and I can't..." Daisy said before she looked at Tom and she had a moment of clarity. "I'm sorry. I don't know how I got here I..."
"You've got a fever. You're burning up," Tom said as he felt her forehead. He pulled the rope and Daisy fell more. "Woah, Daisy," Tom said and he fell to his knees, keeping hold of Daisy. Daisy's eyes cleared and she smiled as Tom held her on his lap.
"William. My, William."
"How can I help Mr Branson?" Mr Barrow asked as he arrived at his door.
"I need you to call for Doctor Clarkson."
"Is that Daisy?"
"Yes. She has a fever and she is confused. She came into my room and collapsed. Please call for the doctor right away."
"I married you..." Daisy said and Mr Barrow went to call for the doctor. "My William."
"You did," Branson said to help sooth her. "Now let me help you."
"Ok," Daisy said with a smile before she frowned. "But you're dead. You died and I..."
"Daisy?" Branson asked as Daisy was starting to lose consciousness. "Daisy, you need to stay awake."
"Mr Mason. I need to see... Mason..." Daisy said as she passed out.
"He's on his way. Do you need me to do anything else sir?" Barrow asked as he returned.
"Help me to get her downstairs. I don't want to disturb the others," Branson said and he picked Daisy up.~
"William... William."
"Are you awake Daisy?"
"I think so."
"We're really glad about that dear."
"Mr Mason?"
"Aye, I'm here."
"I came to see you didn't I? I walked into your room."
"You walked into mine," Branson said and Daisy opened her eyes. Shocked by Mr Branson holding her hand, she became awkward.
"Mr Branson. If I knew you were here I..."
"You have said much worse things to me in the past few hours Daisy. You have a fever and you're in hospital. They've got it coming down, but they need to keep an eye on you."
"So last night?"
"Last night, you left your room and made it to mine. From there, you collapsed and Mr Barrow called for the doctor."
"Thomas helped me?"
"Only because I asked him to. What do you remember from last night?"
"Not much. I'm afraid my head was in a bit of a fog."
"So I gathered. Now I must get back, but I wanted to stay until I knew that you were going to be alright."
"Thank you," Daisy said and Branson let go of her hand. "And I'm sorry. For barging into your room and saying impropriate things."
"And collapsing onto him," Mr Mason added.
"It's alright Daisy. We all become ill from time to time. Get some rest and I will speak no more about it."
"Thank you," Daisy said and he left her with Mr Mason.~
"Tom. How is Daisy?" Lord Grantham asked as he returned.
"She's doing very well. They're bringing her fever down slowly."
"It must have been a shock for you, finding her in your room last night."
"It was. But she was confused and she needed help."
"We are glad that you could gave it to her. Now..."
