"Will you be by my side?" Damien x Pip

Chapter 16: Cathryn

The walk was silent as Damien led the team farther into the woods. It was awkward as heck, so halfway through the walk, Willow spoke up.

"So....how did you and Philip fall for each other?" she asks.

"What?" Damien looks at her.

"Like....you two like each other, right?" She reiterates.

"Yeah?"

"Well....how did you two fall for each other?" she asks again.

"Well....I don't know for Philip..since, to be honest, I don't know what he sees in me, but I fell for him because....he's so....he's just..so nice and caring, and he sees me for....for me." Damien goes silent for a minute, "I treated him horribly the first time we met....so I don't know how he likes me but....when holding him it just feels..magical."

Damien smiles as he zones out a little. He starts raving about Pip again. Willow signals to the others to not stop him, 'He probably needs to just let it out.' she thinks.

Damien goes on about Pip for hours while walking. On about his hair, his eyes, his personality, his heartbeat, the girls found Damien talking about Pip's heartbeat a bit creepy, but they didn't say anything. Damien feels happy and light when talking about him.

Stella then interrupts, "Aww, you sure are lovey-dovey about him, and to think you are the same person that was disgusted when we talked about love a few weeks before Pip got there."

Damien rolls his eyes, "Yea yea, whatever." Damien grabs his bag from his back and takes out a Slim Jim. Damien starts to eat it as he talks some more about Pip.

"So Damien....?" Willow asks.

"Yes, Willow?"

"About Cathryn....why is she here?"

Damien turns to her, confused, "What do you mean?"

"Like....why is she working in the castle? She is clearly not a person that was wrongfully sent to hell, so.....why is she working there?" Willow asks.

Damien is silent for a moment before sighing, "Cathryn didn't die."

Kelly speaks up, "What do you mean?"

"I mean she was never human....she was born in hell. She just came up to the front desk one day, asked for a job, she did well on the exam, she got the job, and that's it."

Stella thinks for a minute, "So....you're saying that the system hell put in place isn't faulty? It's just that she didn't go through it?"

"Yep...."

Kelly then spoke up in a muffled voice, "That....That makes so much sense....that clears up everything!! Shit!" Kelly slaps her head, "Why did I think of that!? She isn't just an asshole, she's an actual demon!" Stella pats Kelly's back.

Damien sighs, "If I ever go back..there..I need to make background checks required for everyone...."

Damien then tries to zone back out, but that's when he sees something in the distance, it looked like a tree, with a weird-looking red mark on it, "What the-wait! Is that-!? Yes!! Philip!!" Damien runs up ahead.

"Damien!! Wait!!" Willow yells as she, Stella, and Kelly chase after him, "Slow down!! People in the torturer grounds could hear yo-" Willow was cut off by a guard from the torturer ground coming up out of the tree Damien was running to, "Shit. We might have a problem."
