SUMMER USED TO BE GEMMA WILLIAM'S FAVORITE SEASON OF THE YEAR, now she can't even think about it. She was sitting on her desk trying not to overthink during her last class at school. Being a senior was nice, every kid's dream when they get to high school, but right now Gemma couldn't care less about all the excited whispers and cheers from her classmates. Her eye catched the polaroid picture of last summer, she sighed.
It's been a month since she last heard from him. She acted as if it didn't matter, they were gone months before the tragedy, she was moving to Canada after summer anyways.
When the news of Susannah's death broke the girl's heart, her thoughts went straight to the Fisher boy. He didn't answer her calls or her texts. Steven comforted his friend saying that he was just dealing with things and soon enough he would call her, but it never happened.
"Hey Gem, how's your dress for tomorrow?" Tatum Sander's voice woke the blonde girl from her daydreams about a certain boy.
"Um.. normal I guess?" the blonde girl shrugged at her friend.
"Normal how?" Jenna Carter snorted at her friend. "Like Lila's see-through pink dress or a family-friendly graduation dress?"
"How do you know what dress she is wearing?" Tatum asks with an amused smile.
"As if she hasn't been posting about it every single day on instagram." the dark-skinned girl replies, rolling her eyes. "You saw it, right Gem?"
"Sorry, I haven't paid attention"
The two friends share a sad knowing look before turning their attention back to the blonde teenager in front of them. Both Jenna and Tatum had been worried about their blonde friend for a while now, she didn't share much information about what happened to her and Conrad or how she was feeling after the loss of his mother.
"How's my favorite trio doing?" Steven Conklin's excited voice catched the girls' attention. The young boy threw himself on Gemma's lap and she chuckled.
"Can you please get off me?" She tried pushing the boy away, but had no success.
"Oh please Gem, I'm super light" he rolled his eyes playfully. "I almost didn't recognize you Williams, I like your short hair."
It took a minute for Gemma to realize what he was talking about, her right hand flew to her now short blonde hair. It was an impulsive decision she had the prior night, her mother helped her with the trimming and styling, her long hair was now barely touching her shoulders.
"She had a full-on Rapunzel transformation you know." the redhead girl jokes and the group laughs.
"If you want Gem, I can be the horse you know?" Steven says, wiggling his eyebrows playfully. "I love that horse."
