Back in December we crossed paths
I wore an old cardigan and my favorite jeans
You had the style of someone out of a magazine
Tim McGraw played in the background
Little did I know that would be our song
I knew you were trouble by that smirk on your face
But I was enchanted to meet you anyway
With eyes open I jumped in fearless
Thinking I can fix him (no really I can)
I watched the sparks fly
As we danced in the starlight
And felt my heart begin again
That night was the start of our epic love story
It felt so high school and like the alchemy
If life were like a movie
You would've been the one
We would've had a fairytale end game
And lived out our wildest dreams
I really thought you belonged with me
But I watched sadly as our castles crumbled in a fortnight
Because my boy only breaks his favorite toys
It hurt so badly, I could hardly breathe
All you had to do was stay baby
But instead you looked guilty as sin and walked away
Leaving me down bad wondering how did it end
I'm haunted by the memories replaying in my head
These teardrops on my guitar
Are the last time I cry over what used to be mine
I'm shaking off the misery
And starting over clean
I know I can do it with a broken heart
Because I know this feeling all too well
And I've seen the prophecy to what's ahead
I'll be okay
If our paths should cross again
Know that there's no bad blood between you and me
I won't make you out as the anti-hero
But don't you try anything funny
Because we are never getting back together
